Flashback Friday – Imperial Guard Armored Company

Hello everyone! Brandon here from GMM Studios with a little blast from the past.

This is Flashback Friday, where I revisit old armies I have painted from the past.  I have painted thousands of models and who knows how many huge armies on commission, and each one holds a special place in my heart.

A little sweat, a lot of love, and some collaboration with another person and who knows what you can create!

I enjoy looking back every once in a while at the photos and remembering the joys and struggles, the hard work and the pure enjoyment of making someone’s vision a reality. But enough of that emotional stuff, let’s get on with it! I miss you, baby!
This time it is Imperial Guard!  One common trend since they are usually huge in model count, is to paint the vehicles and infantry separately.  This way the colors look fine in terms of matching, but it is more affordable.

Dogfighting some Tau Barracudas.  I painted this army at the same time as a large Tau armored company so that allowed for some fun pictures.

The Leman Russes are all Forge World hulls, turrets, and trench rails.  I always recommend the Forge World conversion bits as they are so much more detailed and realistic.

Two Vendettas, can’t go wrong!  Weathering the big open wings is always something I look forward to.

Bombards, along with enclosed Medusas, are by far my favorite Forge World vehicles outside of super heavies.  They are just so big and intimidating.  They also remind me of construction equipment (destruction equipment?)

And of course, can’t have Imperial Guard without Chimeras!  These are all fairly stock, but I added plenty of damage pre-painting.

That’s it for this week!  Check in next Friday for more trips down memory lane. Always feel free to follow on twitter or facebook if you prefer.  Thanks for reading!
