Hey everyone! FTGT Evan here, and I wanted to share with you a Hobby Budget Challenge we’re putting together on my blog.

The roots of the Challenge go back to an old White Dwarf series, “A Tale of Four Gamers,” where four members of the White Dwarf team assembled an army over the course of several months with a fixed budget.

We’re adapting the challenge a bit and invite anyone to participate by joining us in the FTGT Hobby Budget Challenge Facebook Group.

The basic guidelines are that, starting December 1, everyone uses $75 a month to begin building an army over the course of the six month challenge. Participants are allowed a single “Double-Up” month, where the budget is doubled, allowing for bigger kit purchases like a Wraithknight or Battleforce box.

At the beginning of each month, Participants share their planned purchases and finished models from the month before.

Depending on the army and game system, participants should end the challenge with a solid core of an army painted up and ready to go. Focusing on 40k, a ballpark estimate would be a 1,500 point army.

We see this as an opportunity to add a new element to an existing army or start that army you’ve always been interested in.

So come join us!
