The First Space Marine Plastics- Flashback Fridays

By Rob Baer | March 9th, 2012 | Categories: 40k Flashback, 40k News & Articles, Space Marines

Welcome to Flashback Fridayswhere I dig deep for something cool that I have from back in the day.  Which according to the comic Dane Cook was a Wednesday.

You always hear the question: “How did you get into the hobby?”, and for me it was getting bored with assembling fighter jet models.

I could never afford the good jet kits either. Plus those things had a ton of components, we’re spoiled by Games Workshop when it comes to piece count, believe me.

Today I would like to share with you the old RTB01 Accessory Sprue.  RTB01 was the old Rogue Trader Box set of plastic Space Marines, and this was the accessory Sprue that came in it.

You may notice some similarities with the new Forge World Pre-Heresy Heavy Weapons set, as I am sure they based that kit off the old plastics (as well as the “new” Land Raider and Vehicle upgrade kits etc).

While I used the Power Fist off this sprue (cause it was the only plastic one at the time, and I really needed to make a conversion), it’s still a great glimpse back to the beginnings of 40k. And of course how far these miniatures have come!

Here’s a couple of pictures of the old box set I found on the web. It’s pretty neat to see how they all went together.

Enjoy the pics below, and have a great weekend!
