Five-Fer? Daemon Prince Conversions

Greetings fellow wargamers!  A few weeks ago I got a hold of a trove of Daemon Prince bits from an ebay seller.  They were mostly old pewter bits and about 6 sets of legs!

I’m not sure why they had all these, but I wasn’t one to argue a point.  There were bits to be had for cheap and that’s all I cared about!

One of the great things in the DP kit is all the extra bits you get, including an extra torso front!  For you would be sculptors out there, you can just about build 2 princes from one kit if you can find a suitable replacement lower body (snake tail, etc) and build up the build a bit.  So once more I dove into the old bits box to see what sort of crazy, out there DP’s I could assemble!  Let’s see the results!

For this first DP, I made good use of the spare Lasher Tendrils from the Forgfiend Kit.  by insert them into the spare torso front and sculpting around them, it was fairly easy to disguise the fact that this model had only the front torso.  That head is the tail piece to the Fantasy Chimera from the Warhammer line.  I used the rest of the chimera in a few other conversions.

This guy use the claws from the Cygor kit for his hand to hand weapons and those horns are from the same kit.  I used some spare fingers to fill in the gap behind the mask, giving him a sort of predator hair-tendril look.

For the wings I used spare wings from the Heldrake kit (you’ll have to check out my forthcoming post about my alternate Heldrake conversion to see why I have these wings to spare in the first place).  I like this model a lot, actually, and I think it has a really creepy feel to it.

his guy below is a study in spare.  The legs and arms are from an Eldar Avatar.  The torso is from an old Lord of Change figure and the head is spawn.

The wings are from the lord of change line as well and the tail, rounding it out, is from the modern DP kit.  The model stands a little slimmer than a traditional DP, but he’s got a real Demon right out of Hell look to him.  Which I kinda like.

This Aztec like Daemon Prince may look like a hodge podge of bits now, but once primed he’s really gonna gel nicely.  The wings are also from the Heldrake kit, but with these slightly larger wings I needed a slightly larger torso.  Can you guess which model this torso came from?  Hint, blue and purple and hates He-man.

I used the nicely oversized arms fromm the DP kit and some tomb kings bits to round out the Aztec them.  I also had a spare Lizardman tablet which made for a nice heretical spell book of sorts.  Finally, this staff will make for perfect OSL once painted up.  The headdress he wears are feathers from a spare LoC wing that I had no  match for.  I guess it’s all meat for the grinder.

This may be my favorite DP of the bunch.  With his tragic torn up wings and 4 arms, this guys is a walking GWAR concert or Metallica cover band.   I love the look of this imposing figure!  Thank you minotaur kits for giving us so many spares!  I don’t even know WHAT that head is from.  I inherited it from some kit, long ago.  T

he wings are from Heroscape.  The only issue a buyer might come across is the back.  This was my first attempt to sculpt a back and it was met with ho-hum results.  Hey, I did my best.  Still, I might need to go back and give it another go.  That being said, a would be sculptor could easily build on the foundation back in a single session and really make this model cook!
