Two Shields are Greater Than One- Knowledge Bomb

By Master Shake | August 2nd, 2013 | Categories: Master Shake, Warhammer 40k

Welcome to the segment here on Spikey Bits, where we go over some rules clarifications and “gotchas” for 6th Edition.

Many players in 40k have odd characters and such that allow them to mix saves- say a wolf guard terminator in gray hunters, or Coteaz in an assassin unit.

People generally do this to allow all saves suffered in shooting and close combat to be taken on the best save possible.
Today we’ll look at close combat specifically…
Obviously the first thing people think to do is to remove said character from combat by issuing a challenge. Regardless of accepting or declining, the character is no longer relevant, right?

Wrong.

All a player has to do is decline the challenge.. Just because a model declines, doesn’t mean he can’t be made to take saves, all it does is make him unable to swing. Per MRB. Pg. 64-65

Short and to the point. You can checkout Shakes blog, Grotzilla! where he rages about all sorts of things from badly painted armies to scourges of the internets. -MBG
