Review – White Dwarf #14 Wood Elves & New 7th Edition 40k

By Rob Baer | May 5th, 2014 | Categories: Uncategorized

Well the cat is out of the bag now, and this month Fantasy and 40k players both got something they wanted.

This months White Dwarf came with a centerfold poster with the ominous date of 5/24/2014 printed on it, which may or may not indicate a new edition/ update to Warhammer 40k.

It also contained a fantastic second wave of Wood Elf releases that seem to just really knock the socks off of most other Fantasy Elf models out there.

The only point of criticism I can even muster is that the deer mounts look slightly “boxy” as it may be a bit harder to sculpt a fully organic model on the computer. Or maybe that’s how Games Workshop wanted them to look, either way it’s all I can offer in the constructive criticism department.

Once again this issue was around 30 pages and retails for $4.  It’s worth picking up just for the 40k poster alone IMHO, but the Wood Elf previews and battle report is nice too.

Another bright spot this month was the Paint Splatter Article, which offered more advice on how to paint and shade these wonderfully organic models, and had a great strep by step on how to paint the new big Treeman model too!

Will we see yet more Wood Elf models in next weeks issue, or will the dam break and the “official” 40k hype train begin?

Check it all out in my latest White Dwarf review, below. -MBG
