Games Workshop just dropped some exciting new errata this morning that may have given dreadnoughts a fighting chance in the grim dark.
This is no joke folks, GW just make their house rules on Dreadnoughts official:

Hey folks,
Last week, as part of our ongoing FAQ draft process, we published a new optional rule for Dreadnoughts of the Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Grey Knights Chapters. So many of you got in touch saying that you’d certainly be using the new rule that we’ve decided to make it an official Errata.
The rest of the finalised FAQs and Errata will be on the way once we have your feedback on all the drafts, but we wanted to get this to you so you could all have fun smashing stuff with your Dreadnoughts while you waited.
Wow look at that! We talked about last weeks FAQ “Home rule” quite extensively on the Long War last week, now the question is just how good does that make them right?
Ask yourself when was the last time you saw a dreadnought (who is basically a weaker version of a Carnifex stat wise) win a major even? Heck when was the last time you saw a Carnifex just make it into combat even?
Perhaps the problem with both of these units ISN’T the number of attacks, it’s their points costs?
