Why Dost Thou Hate the Sigmar? – Editorial

age of sigmar

Why dost thou hate the Sigmar? Let me count the ways — Sigmar is polarizing. We knew that much from the leaks before it even came out.

It’s a massive change. A lot of people don’t mind change, but when it happens rapidly some of them freak out. It’s totally a thing. What’s crazy to me is that people are STILL pissing and moaning about it.

Note: this isn’t directed at any one person, the theme however has been reoccurring and I felt like something should be said with the hopes of helping. I understand those of you that are upset will only be more  incensed, but I hope this might plant a big of food for thought.

I understand people are still upset. What I don’t understand is why people don’t pursue the other alternatives that exist. Why nearly 200 people felt the need to comment on the subject in just a few hours.  In the immortal words of Elsa, Let it go.

Should Games Workshop make a rank and file game? They did. It’s called 8th edition. It still works. That world still exists.

“I can’t find anyone to play it in my area, they all moved on to another game!”

Well, maybe that’s a sign that you should move on too. Sometimes, we tend to wear rose colored glasses when we think about the past. We tend to remember the greatness that never really was.

I played battle masters with my son about a year ago. It was cool but it didn’t come close to what I felt when I was a little kid trying my best to overcome the Empire with my forces of Chaos.

I played endless against my next door neighbor who always had to okay empire and always had to take the side with the river that allowed him to make mince meat of my Chaos forces. I still relish his tears the day I I managed to get my Wolf Riders through his lines and devoured his cannon. My Ogre then coming though and dismantling his forces. Glorious.

However, I’ve had just as may amazing experiences since then in other games. Sometimes you just have to let go and move on.

The time for mourning and blaming others for your loss is over. Move on.

I’m sorry your game is no longer being updated. I’m sorry people have abandoned that version in droves. Don’t let the loss of one thing allow you to miss out on the next great thing. Stop letting the hate make you feel like you need to besmirch another game.

Ultimately, it’s a big world with a lot of people. If you want to keep playing a version of 8th, or some other variant of that game, by all means, please do but the time for mourning and blaming others for your loss is over. Move on.
