How To Make Cracked Ice & Realistic Snow On Models

Mugshot

Welcome to another exciting hobby tutorial from Next Level Painting, today Kenny is showing us how to do easy ice effects for any army!

Have you ever wanted to to some sweet snow or frozen water effects on your bases but haven’t had the tools or confidence to pull it off?  Look no further, today Kenny is going to show us how the pros do frozen bases!  We’re working with Age of Sigmar models today, but as always, the techniques will transfer to whatever you’ve got the desire to work with.

The paint work has already been done on these Kurnoth Hunters, if you’re interested in seeing the painting process the entire process can bee seen in the video here.

Laying down Ice

First up Kenny lays down a thick layer of the awesome Secret Weapon Miniatures Realistic Water effects, this is the best stuff on the market and Kenny loves it.

After the water effects are spread out to your liking, you need to throw down some snow!  Kenny used the sister product, Secret Weapon crushed Glass for his snow.  Just sprinkle it liberals on the areas you want to have a snowy or slushy look!

A kit with both items can be found here for $12.00

Tuft of Grass

Once you’ve got the snow down on the bases, you’re all done…  Unless you want to take it up to the next level!

Kenny cuts up some tufts of Gamer’s Grass and sticks them into the piles of snow to add that last little detail to make things really pop!

You can find Gamer’s Grass here for $4-5 per item.
