Scyk Aces, Bro! – New X-Wing Scum Tactics

By Barclay Montgomery | March 21st, 2017 | Categories: Star Wars Tactics, X-Wing 2.0

The recent preview of the Scum Epic ship has a slew of Scyk Interceptor Aces that are shaking up the meta game for  Star Wars X-Wing.

The first Scyk Ace up is Inaldra. Inaldra was a female Twi’lek who was in charge of the Tansarii Point Station. Her ability is pretty nifty if not down right dangerous! When she is attacking or defending, she may spend 1 shield to reroll any number of her dice. It can be a big gamble if you want to reroll all of your defense dice that did not get evades, and hope for the best. The Scyk is not know for being sturdy. A new upgrade may help mitigate this weakness.

A 2 point modification, Pulsed Ray Shield allows you to receive an Ion token during the End Phase to recover 1 shield. You can only equip this upgrade if your shield value is 1 however. Perfect for the Scyk! A viable tactic is to blast into combat, deal your damage, and quickly escape to safety to utilize your Pulsed Ray Shield. Since you will be spending a turn healing, check out this next weapon upgrade.

The arc caster is the first dual weapon upgrade card in X-Wing. This weapon has an attack range of 1, has 4 attack, and allows you to “arc” your attack onto another ship at range 1 of the defender. Be careful though, since this arc attack must target 1 other ship at range 1. That could be you! Once you use the Arc Caster, you flip it over.

On the flip side, is a Recharging Arc Caster that allows you to receive a weapons disabled token at the start of the Combat Phase to flip the Arc Caster to its active side. The perfect upgrade for Inaldra whenever she is on her healing escape flight.
