Fantasy Flight Games gives us a closer look at the Death Knights, those dread cavalry that will trample the enemies of Waiqar the Undying!
Death Knights are amongst the infamously known forces of Waiqar the Undying. They ride their vampiric steeds into battle and see the act of slaughter as more of an expression of their hatred for those who are not cursed by undeath. For them, there is no distinction between warrior and bystander. The Death Knights Unit Expansion will contain four Death Knight figures with two cavalry trays and five new upgrade cards. Also included are panic, stun, and unit ID Tokens, alongside a new condition card and token, for use with a special new type of upgrade included with the Death Knights. They can be fielded together for 24 points and additional copies can be purchased to field 42 and 55 point units.
They have a wide variety of march actions and 2 Impact modifiers to force their enemies into melee and create chaos in the enemy ranks. Their command dial has a mortal strike modifier that can be attached to a melee attack to ensure deadly damage is given out. The kept alive with dark magic and this is reflected by an arcane link on their unit card. Therefore, their Impact is linked to the number of stable runes on the field. That Impact rating will determine how many panic tokens an enemy unit receives when they collide.
Death Knights have the Steadfast (Fear) keyword which allows them to treat Fear cards as having an additional morale icon. When attacking, they roll one blue and two red to increase their chance to land a devastating blow. They come with 5 unique upgrades that will offer several different way to play. The Shield of Margath not only protects but will deal damage equal to the Knights’ defense value to those enemy units foolish enough to attack. The Obcasium’s Gauntlet upgrade to give the defender the “Death’s Grasp” condition. If an enemy is snared by Death’s Grasp, they suffer wounds equal tot he amount of stable energy runes in play before the End phase.

Relentless and devoid of mercy, the Death Knights of Waiqar the Undying serve their master with vicious efficiency. Riding on the fore of an endless army of the undead, the Death Knights are the first sight the enemies of Waiqar witness in battle, as well as the last thing they see before suffering a brutal death.
The Death Knights Unit Expansion features four Death Knight figures and two Plastic Cavalry Movement Trays as well as five upgrade cards to customize your Runewars Miniatures Game armies. The expansion also includes panic, stun, and unit ID Tokens as well as a new condition card and token, for use with a new upgrade included with the Death Knights.
