Fantasy Flight Games has teased the newest unit expansion coming to the Runewars Miniatures Game: The Outland Scouts for the Daqan Lords
The Outland Scouts patrol the untamed woods in the back country of Terrinoth and do what they can against the rising tide of darkness. These scouts rarely join the main Daqan fighting forces but, as dangers grow in the East, the Baronies are calling in any and all fighters. The Outland Scouts Unit Expansion comes with eight customizable miniatures, six tokens, and five upgrade cards.
These scouts have their own keyword that allows them to deploy after the “Deploy Units” step is complete. They can survey the field and then enact their strategies accordingly. When deployed, they can perform any blue die action and matching modifier. This means that the Daqan commander can respond to enemy movements rather than having to anticipate them. Scout abilities will rely on the use of surges and, when in melee, they can roll two blue dice to increase the chances of finding two surge icons. Those surges can then be spent to add a bonus hit.
Scouts do not march with the main army but develop scouting and patrol routes ahead of the main force. When the battle is in full swing, these scouts won’t be in the front lines. They will be nearby and ready to lend a hand in a surprise flank attack or a sabotage strike in the enemy’s rearguard and supply train. They are also unshakeable in battle, which makes them resistant to banes spread by the undead. They can perform a rally action with a green shift modifier without the risk of being struck by nearby enemy units. Combine this shift with their bane resistance and you have a unit that will frustrate Waiqar’s Undead units that depend on ranged blight attacks, such as Carrion Lancers and Reanimate Archers.
The Outland Scouts’ upgrade cards play to their strengths: spirit and ability to inspire. The ‘Know Your Enemy’ upgrade allows you to spend one inspiration token to re-roll one die during a melee. Additionally, this card allows the attached unit to receive an inspiration token as a unique surge action. A scout whose skill has been ‘Forged in Battle’ may gain Precise 1 after the fourth round, and Brutal 1 after the sixth. This allows these “untrained” warriors to exact brutal damage on their enemies.

Hailing from the furthest outskirts of Terrinoth, the Outland Scouts defend villages from the dangers that lurk beyond the edges of the baronies. Now, as the Daqan lords call their banners, these determined troops take to the battlefield to inspire the armies of Terrinoth!
The Outland Scouts Unit Expansion includes eight figurines and two Plastic Infantry Trays to house them, as well as a collection of tokens and five available upgrade cards to strengthen your Daqan forces.
