Everlasting Wet Palette Post

The Everlasting Wet Palette Kickstarter is finally here. Come see what you need to know if you are considering backing it with your hobby dollars.

The Everlasting Wet Palette Kickstarter starts September 19, at 2pm EST (7pm CET). Just in case you have not heard of this wet palette until now, it has been reviewed by our own Rob Baer and that review video will be included for your viewing pleasure below.

The Everlasting Wet Palette Kickstarter

Essentially, this wet palette uses an advanced foam to to maintain optimal hydration and moisture levels to keep your paints wet for hours. This foam is also reusable and does not allow mold growth. When you pledge, 2 foam sheets are included. Essentially, a foam could be placed in the lid, thus providing you with two palettes. 100 hydration paper sheets are included. The palette itself is airtight and comes with a magnetic attachment that can hold paint and hold your brushes.

The Painter Pledge for their Kickstarter is 25€/$30. Below is a sample of Rob’s review to help you get an idea of how it will function.

Everlasting Wet Palette

Before we begin, it is necessary to say that the membrane component that makes the wet palette “everlasting” is still currently being worked on. Redgrass Games still decided to continue the Kickstarter because of their confidence in the state of their product. The membrane will continue to be worked on and, for the time being, high quality parchment paper will be the stand in for the membrane. This should not dissuade you from backing since there could be many upsides to this palette that are worth your time and investment.

Everlasting Wet Palette Sponge

The Everlasting Wet Palette is designed to be airtight but not entirely watertight. The 2mm foam is specifically designed to retain water for hours of wet painting. We tested the foam membrane by loading it with water and using it for as long as we could. At the time of this review, 3 days had passed and the foam still retained a healthy amount of water. It does have a slight chemical smell but there was no scum or moldy smell. Everything was still quite clean, even with a dash of paint being spilled onto the foam as well.

Rob did squeeze the water out and made a bit of mess on his desk during the making of this review.

Everlasting wet palette Paint

We did perform several sessions of painting with the Everlasting Wet Palette. The longest session ran six hours and the membrane and paper stayed exposed to the open air. The paints remained consistent and moist for use with no issue of drying out.

For the review video, we loaded up some paint and tested it out on Rob’s Warrior Demon and Stormcast models that he has been painting on his Twitch stream. The paint went on to the model firm and with no issues. We even tested out a wash and it applied smoothly.

Editor’s note: I did load up the pallet with a full compliment of water and with elastic band attached turned it on its side, and the water did not leak out. Also you get two mats with this palette, so by placing one in the lid you essentially have TWO wet palettes.
