Did Games Workshop just let the cat out of the bag and confirm what may be the return of a Games Day style event to the US? Come take a look!
A couple week’s ago Warhammer Citadel Cafe posted on their Facebook about their new venue and it got us thinking back to some of the previous rumors about the future of events in the US.
Grab your salt shakers and you make the call on this one. First, let’s take a look at the rumors.
Warhammer Cafe North America will be located in Dallas, Texas in the United States. Confirmed, Grapevine, TX suburb of DFW
It’s going to be a large hobby bunker with 12+ tables, food, drinks, and more. Confirmed via Facebook (below)
There’s also going to be a new event starting as soon as this Fall, from some reports, called Warhammer Expo which will be a miniature version of a Games Day, but with a weekender / open type feel.
Warhammer Expo will also take place in Dallas, VIP tickets are going to be “invite only” based on a store to store basis (think Golden Ticket status but with a twist). These VIP tickets will be given to the hobby “outriders” that help get others into the hobby.
The Expo will also be used to bring back official GT style events (such as 40k, and AoS) like they do in Europe to America Unconfirmed
The new store is rumored to be operational around the Fall of this year as well. Off by 3 Months, perhaps the Expo (unconfirmed, above) will be in the fall?
Now take a look at the post that was seen over on the Warhammer Citadel Cafe Facebook page and compare the two:
There’s been a lot of curiosity about the Citadel tables. On opening day we will have; 5 Featured Tables (very fancy…possibly pictures next week!), 6 Tables from the Warhammer Realms, 8 Warhammer 40,000 tables, and just for spice, a Blood Bowl Stadium. But wait, there’s more. Most of tables in the Cafe are board games sized. More on that tomorrow. One last thing, our events will not be limited to the number of tables on site (and that’s all I can say about that.). Here are some teaser pics of the tables we have worked on so far. So, the rumor stated 12+ tables, food, drinks, and more and the total count of the announcement was 20, including the Blood Bowl Stadium that is.
The Warhammer Citadel Cafe team said their events will not be limited to the number of tables on site, which leads us to believe that larger events, such as an expo, will be taking place somewhere in Dallas at another venue that can support more tables. Perhaps similar to how Games Workshop holds their events in Nottingham.
The only thing that’s not matching up is the operational window of Fall time frame, as the new cafe will have an opening day celebration June 9th and 10th.
So, it appears that the rumors we published hold some sort of truth already. Either way its safe to say we’re all eagerly awaiting the opening of the new Warhammer Citadel Cafe, and we can’t wait to see what they have planned, and what kind of impact this will have on Warhammer in North America.
Its been five years since GW held its last Games Day in the US.
