Star Wars Legion: 74-Z Speeder Bike Build

Star Wars Legion Wal HorToday we’re going to be going over the upgrade options for the 74-Z Speeder Bikes in Star Wars Legion. It’s time to step your comms game up!

The 74-Z Speeder Bikes are some of the best unit choices for Imperial players. They’re really fast, you can stare your opponent in the face turn one if you’re so inclined, but just make sure you have your maneuvering down.

The Speeder Bikes have Cover 1 which is going to give them a +1 to the cover bonus, and they also have Speeder 1 which allows them to ignore height 1 or lower terrain during their movement. They are required to perform a compulsory move when they activate which is a full move at the unit’s maximum speed, for the Speeder Bikes that will be a speed 3 movement. They have a fixed front firing arc so the target must be in that area in order to attack, and Impact 1 is going to allow you to change one of your hit rolls to a critical.

The only downside to them is they only have 3 wounds, and they’re rolling a white dice for their defense. But, let’s be honest, it’s the Imperial, are you shocked?

Now on to the upgrade options… They only have a comms upgrade slot, so that leaves us with Comms Jammer and Long-Range Comlink.

Comms Jammer is going to make it so enemy units at range 1 can’t be issued orders unless they are issuing an order to themselves. This would be a great card if you’re trying to play a little more reserved, or you’re able to single out a unit that has another unit near them that’s able to issue orders, but still out of range of attacking you.

long range comlink

Long-Range Comlink seems like it’s designed perfectly for the Speeder Bikes. It’s going to allow you to be issued orders as though you are in range of the nominated commander. Use that compulsory move, make another range 3 movement, attack a lone opponent unit, have your commander issue orders from across the table, and get ready to move to the next.

For Speeder Bikes, it’s going to be extremely easy to get out of range of your commander, making it hard to stay in range to receive orders. So on that note, Long-Range Comlink is going to be a much smarter choice to take so far.

Look over there! Stop him!
