AoS 2.0: Big FAQ Changes For Multiple Factions

lord of change

An FAQ was released pretty much everything in Age of Sigmar 2.0, and there have been some huge changes all around. Let’s take a deeper look.

Warhammer Community released an FAQ yesterday that changed a whole handful of factions. Some of these FAQs are bigger than others. Tzeentch and Seraphon were a little out of control pre-FAQ.

AoS 2.0: Big FAQ Changes For Multiple Factions

We’ll be looking at how they’ve changed as well as some other factions overall.

Tzeentch Changes

tzeentch faq 1

They gave the Chaos Spawn to a Tzeentch Chaos Spawn for rulings and keeping things “Tzeentch” themed. Now, it’s possible for your general to mortal wound himself and turns into a Chaos Spawn. You probably don’t want that to happen, but at least you get another model out of it.

tzeentch faq 2

Tzeentch players could already farm Fate Points like crazy with the right list. Now, they made it possible to get two points for rolling doubles. It’s not going to happen all the time, but it’ll make up for the spell that you fail to cast.

tzeentch faq 5 Keep your screamers close to Daemon heroes to give them -1 to hit.

tzeentch faq 6

You can also summon other Daemons from other Chaos Gods and get even more Chaos Spawns if you kill something with the Bolt of Change.

Seraphon Changes

seraphon faq 1

Celestial Deliverance got a little bit of a nerf. Kroak is able to cast it up to 3 times, but now the mortal wounds only happen on a 2+. On top of that, Daemons don’t get wiped off the map anymore because it only does 3 flat mortal wounds instead of D6 mortal wounds.

On top of that, Kroak doesn’t get his insane rerolls anymore. Whenever he uses his command ability, every 4+ just counts for a CP.

kroak faq

You still use his bravery rule, but you count him as having only 7 wounds.

seraphon faq 2

seraphon faq 3

Generating an infinite number of attacks with vicious beaks was awful. They only do D3 additional hits now.

Seraphon got a heavy change in playstyle after this FAQ. They were a little crazy, to begin with, so this may have been a welcome change for sure.

Beastclaw Raiders Changes

If you’re targetting a character with Frost-wreathed Ice, you ignore the -1 to hit for other models being close by. Just don’t roll a one and good things always happen. With the points drop from the start of AoS 2.0 and now the unchanging 2+ for 6 mortal wounds, they got better.

Maggotkin of Nurgle Changes

nurgle faq 1

You can’t stack the same command abilities on units anymore and the Glottkin can only use the command ability once in a turn.

Grand Alliance: Chaos

Pack up some of those Daemon models because they took out a whole truckload of summonable units. Of course, this is only for Slaanesh.

chaos faq 2

Daemon Princes can be included in a strict Slaves to Darkness army now as well.

chaos faq 3

The only thing that changed here is that the model is slain if he isn’t set up before the fourth battle round. But in all honesty, how often will that even happen? You’ll want him doing work in the early turns of the game.

General Handbook 2018 Changes

general handbook faq

For everyone who isn’t lucky enough to get their own page/book of specific rules, you can use your base alliance rules.

general handbook faq 2

Warpstone sparks got a bit of a nerf in the new edition entirely. But they’re better than nothing.

It looks like you can’t stack the same command ability on a unit more than once. It would be crazy to give Stormvermin 5 attacks each so this is totally understandable. For key units, you can only use a certain command ability once per turn now as well.

There is still a ton of information to comb through for this FAQ. It looks like everyone got affected in some way. We hit the biggest points for the most popular armies. Be sure you check out your faction details and look at what got changed.

All in all, it seems like everything became more balanced and there’s nothing that got changed that we are too surprised about. Get some games in with your armies and learn the new way they work!
