The Tyranids’ insatiable appetite bring them into conflict with some impressive Imperial Knights. Who will win this war of power?

Rob Baer joins Juice in the beats lab for an epic battle between Knights (with some Guard and Custodes support) and Tyranids. This battle is using ATC mission 3, deploying in Dawn of War fashion. Juice chose to kill characters, Knights, and recon as secondaries while Rob chose recon, reaper, and characters.

Rob begins deployment first and Juice wins the first turn.

Rob leads the Imperial army, bringing a Superheavy Detachment of two Crusader Knights and a Gallant Knight. They’re joined by a Supreme Command detachment with three Custodes Shield Captains. Rounding out the troops is a Battalion of Cadians, led by two Company Commanders, with three troops squads. Two of the troop squads have grenades.

Juice hosts Hive Fleet Lexus, swarming in with the Swarm Lord, Brood Lord, and a Malenthrope. Backing them up in the Kraken battalion are two squads of Rippers, two large squads of Genestealers, and six Hive Guard. In support, the Genestealer Cult is bringing a battalion with 20 Acolytes, two Magus, a Primus, and Neophytes.

Juice begins the game, aiming to move out and get the drop on things. The Genestealers advance and, using Opportunistic Advance stratagem, he gets to double the advance roll and add it to his movement. Rolling a 6, he gets to move 20″ across the board. Swarm Lord joins them, plus other stratagems are used to move more of the hive fleet forward.

The Genestealer Cult comes in and deploys 9″ away from a unit with the ability to act as normal. Juice’s Magus takes over one Knight, unloading the guns into a Shield Captain, doing four damage. Onslaught is cast with double sixes, doing 3 mortal wounds to the Swarm Lord. Hive Guard do three wounds against a Knight. In close combat, a Shield Captain is killed.

Rob’s Knight takes 17 damage, killing it. It does explode, doing three damage to the Swarm Lord, six damage to the cult, as well as killing some guard and damaging the other Knight.

Rob is going into his turn down a Lord of War. He aims to move items around to kill things, using the House Raven ability to move, advance and still act like its weapons are assault.

Shooting phase, Genestealers were picked off and more of the cult were destroyed. The Crusader takes out the Magus and Primus. The Crusader charges the Malenthrope, killing it. The Swarm Lord fights back, doing three damage to the Knight.

The Shield Captain is able to take down some Genestealers.

Both armies had amazing turn ones. Who will come out on top, though? To find out, be sure to watch the full battle report below!
