We’re back with some bold predictions on what’s right around the corner for Ork codex! Take a look at the latest rules rumors from around the web.

Spotted on Dakka a thread all about Orks had some interesting discussion. People are weighing the good and the bad of their Index and making predictions on what’ll be changed in the Ork codex. Check out what they had to say.

Make sure you take a quick look at GW’s Power Level (2k) list they previewed the other day. Power levels have dropped significantly on some things. Could that be foreshadowing a point decrease across the board?

2k Speed Freeks List: Power Level Style from Games Workshop.

speed freeks list New 40k Ork Points Costs Hidden In Plain Sight?

We’ve built our list using Power rather than points for the sake of convenience. If you’re looking to build a matched play force, this list comes to about 2000 points, so shouldn’t need much adjusting.

Right off the bat, GW said the list is close to 2,000 points. Well if we go by what the studio said a while back, in that 1PL=20pts. 99 x 20 = 1980 which seems to line up with their current list preview, and their previous statements.

Trukks & Big Shoota Point Decrease

ork buggy wal RUMORS: Pricing & Values For Speed Freeks Box Set

Trukks are the tried and true cheap transport for Orks. It’s fast and nowhere near the cost of a Battlewagon. With that being said, people think it’s still too expensive. We’ve seen Ork lists use Trukks pretty regularly as of right now. if they end up getting a point decrease, we’re for sure going to be seeing more.

A user going by Leopard said:

Hope the Truck becomes viable, have one built and two unbuilt here, ditto a pair of unbuilt battlewagons, points drop of any sort warmly welcomed – even if its the base vehicle is cheaper with the upgrades being more expensive.

Expect the Big Shoota to drop in cost, its currently somewhat ridiculous, you could actually make it a zero cost option, anything that can take it is limited in how many so its not like you can spam them and with Ork ballistic skill its if anything a downgrade on an ork boy – especially if boyz become more expensive having it a zero or low cost makes sense.

Let’s be real. The Big Shoota is a little pricey. Right now, it sits at six points for just one and that’s all you can take on a Trukk anyway! Just the one!

Combine that with the Ork ballistic skill,  you’re probably only going to hit with one shot (you’re hitting on a 5+ out of three shots) and you still need to wound which will usually be a 3+ or 4+. Regardless, a six-point gun that may sneak one wound through isn’t exactly worth it.

It should really be either free or a small two-point upgrade like a Storm Bolter.  A Hunter-Killer Missile goes for six points and that’s a tank popper! Now, let’s take a look at the Trukks bigger brother.

Battlewagon Going Down as Well

Coming from a user named Pina Colada:

The battlewagon is rumoured to drop 41 points in base cost from that french youtuber. Hopefully rokkit launchas and big shootas drop a bit as well so it’s not unlikely that they end up a full 50 points cheaper if those rumours are to be trusted.

Leopard Chimed in again as well:

had heard the wagons are dropping, given I’m after battle taxis that can move, advance and still fire the quad big shoota option is about all they will get (plus the spiked death roller of death obviously). rokkits getting cheaper though may see to as yet old style Leman Russ chassis (sans tracks) being built up as BRDM-2 with a rack of rokkits on the back if I can find suitable wheels.

…Rednoak (talking about buggies) yeah… flavored rules… unless most of em are unter 70points i dont see any point in fielding them…

if points drop for battlewagon are true… why bother with a 100+ points squigbuggy when for the same cost i can field a frikkin battlewagon?
the only thing i am considering fielding are the jump dragsta and the scrap jet.

A barebones Battlewagon sits at 161 points right now. If what people are saying comes true and the Battlewagon gets something around a 40-50 point decrease, will that make some of the new Speed Freeks Buggies obsolete? There’s a lot of Ork fans out there that think they need to cost under 100 points to see competitive play. Of course, there might be one or two new Buggies that have enough utility to field past 100 points, but why wouldn’t you take a Battlewagon for something like 10-20 points more?

What are Buggy Points Looking Like?

Because people are beginning to lean more towards a Battlewagon over some of the new Buggies, let’s check out our educated guess at what they’ll cost based on the Power level in GW’s earlier preview.

Obviously, we don’t have the points for the latest vehicles and PL is somewhat random (It’s between 12-20 points per 1PL on some units). So we can’t say for sure how much they’ll cost just yet. However, adding up all of the existing units using the INDEX points values, the total comes out to 78PL = 1,152pts.

dragsta

We’re assuming that there’s going to be a slight points decrease across the board because of what the PL scaling is telling us. Here are some rough estimates of their potential costs based on 1PL = 20 points

  • Kustom Boosta-blasta – 5 Power 100 Points
  • Shokkjump Dragsta – 6 Power 120 Points
  • Boomdakka Snazzwagon – 5 Power 100 Points
  • Megatrakka Scrapjet – 5 Power 100 points
  • Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy – 7 Power 140 Points
  • Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power  120 Points
  • Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power  120 Points

People are starting to take a close look at points and power level as we get closer to the inevitable codex release. Do you think Orks are getting an Army-wide point decrease as well? Would you take a Battlewagon over some of the new Buggies if it does become cheaper?
