Prior to washing, hit the miniature with some Gloss Varnish. This gets the wash to slide around easier on the model and allows the wash to easily be manipulated. Then, mix one large drop of Quickshade Mixing Medium by Army Painter with quite a bit of the wash itself, about 3 parts wash to 1 part mixing medium ratio.

Add a small squirt of water and mix together!

Slather the wash across the miniature, pushing the wash into the recesses and preventing the wash from pooling. If the wash pools too much, it will stain the color. On flat surfaces, get water in your brush and use that to wick away any excess wash so it does not pool.

Always keep your brush moving during this process.

When the wash is completely dry, he will still be shiny from the gloss varnish. To remove this, spray the model with a Matte Varnish, which will remove the shine and apply a uniform finish on the model. Let this coat dry completely before adding any more paint to the model!

Those three steps are the easiest way of utilizing the Army Painter wash system. For more Jack of Clubs tutorials, check out his channel on Youtube.
