Will the rumor Daemon engine ever slow down? Don’t miss the latest on everything new coming soon to Warhammer 40k in name of Chaos!

Hot on the heels of their big video announcement for the narrative of Haarken Wordclaimer about the potential return of Chaos this spring, we are getting an exclusive look into everything that’s on the way for Chaos. Bottom line, it looks like it’s a lot.

We just hit the two-week countdown mark to the big March 5th deadline that Haarken declared.

Let’s check out the latest Daemon engine for what may be coming next for Chaos:

GW Rumor Engine Part I: Daemon Possessed Backpack?

rumor engine 2-12-19 2

Games Workshop was nice enough to give us a picture of a bit and there’s no doubt that a Daemon is inside whatever it is. At first glance, we thought it could be the backpack of some kind of new model/character like maybe a Possessed.

Speaking of Possessed, we know it looks like they’ve got some updated artwork on the cover of Shadowspear. Maybe this is the backpack to a newly sculpted Daemon-possessed Marine?

backpack

This Thousand Sons pack has the same layered plates as the snapshot GW gave us! The only difference is that there’s not a Warp-born face staring back at you! But speaking of Possessed Marines…

This rumor engine from a while ago looks to have finally been matched up to that Possessed artwork! However, we haven’t seen the official model that it goes to as of yet. But it turns out it looks to be the business end of a Chaos unit.

GW Rumor Engine Part II: A Paw Unbound

rumor engine 2-13-19

Looking at the latest rumor engine from Warhammer Community, this is without a doubt the underside of some kind of Space Marine’s foot. It’s clear as day that we can see the angled sloping ceramite that all Marines have around the bottom of their legs as well as the Chaosy trim. Whatever the model may be, it looks like it’s been surging with Warp taint for a while as it’s grown claws out of the ends of its toes!

Could this be some kind of twisted Marine that got one too many “gifts” from the Chaos gods?

GW Rumor Engine Part: III Big Meaty Claw!

rumor engine 2-14-19

This is what happens when you drop your order of Crab legs into the Eye of Terror.

Of course, this looks to be going onto the same model that we’ve been seeing bits and pieces of for the past few days. One thing we know for sure is that it’s going to have melee potential. Could the claw be a special weapon in the unit and have the stats of something like a power fist? Or is the claw purely cosmetic to the unit and every model will have it? There are more questions popping up than answers!

Maybe this Master of Possession is bringing a new unit with him! The Warp has a funny way of mutating and distorting things in real space beyond human comprehension and the bits we’ve seen definitely look to be like a Daemon or two might be inside the “shell” of a human.

GW Rumor Engine Part: IV Heavy Bolter Gets a Makeover

rumor engine 2-15-19

Moving right along to this bit, this is unmistakably some kind of Heavy Bolter. Now, whether this is a new Chaos unit shooting “special issue” warp ammunition is a different story. But looking at what we’ve got to go off of, you can definitely tell someone is holding it by the top handle. (i.e probably not a fleshmetal gun from an Obliterator).

Whether this is a new kind of -2AP Bolter or just a cosmetic reboot for Chaos Havocs, this will definitely be a welcome addition into the Chaos arsenal.

GW Rumor Engine Part V Faces of Evil

The classic skull with an exposed spine backpack returns! First seen in the Dark Vengeance Chaos Space Marines, or was it the existing Possessed kit? It’s hard to say, but one thing is for sure. The new Chaos Marines will be right at home with all these amazing looking bits that exude pure evil!

GW Rumor Engine Part VI Wu-Tang Sword

While it is not a chain-axe much to the disappointment of the followers of Khorne, it’s still a wicked looking refinement of the classic Chaos chainsword from 2005.

Plus shown as a separate bit, that definitely supports either the fact that the new starter will be multi-part kits OR perhaps even multiple waves of kits in succession.

Black Legion stand as the congregation of all four Chaos powers. While GW may be showing support to the “broadest” of all the Chaos factions, there is nothing that is stopping them from bringing new models into the game that are solely aligned to one god.

GW Rumor Engine Part: VII Chaos Pew Pew Mounted Up!

rumor engine 2-18-19

Looking at the new bit, it’s definitely some kind of gun mounted to the top of a Daemon Engine. But what kind of Daemon Engine exactly? Well, notice the spikes? They start off short and get longer and longer. Plus, the gun looks to be mounted at the top of the hump to whatever it’s on.

chaos venom crawler

Survey says it’s a weapon option for the Venomcrawler

All signs look to be pointing to some kind of variant form of the Venomcrawler.

If this is a Venomcrawler underneath the rumor engine bit, we can take a solid guess that you’ll be able to build either variant from the same box (once this hits the shelves by itself).

Looking at the model of the weapon itself, it looks like it might be a brand new weapon. At first glance, something tells us it’ll be something like a heavy flamer. It’s got the metal piping underneath protruding past the barrel like a flame holder. However, this Daemon-forged weapon could always have two different firing modes (like a concentrated shot) that could punch through armor.

It’s no doubt that Chaos is getting the much-needed makeover this time around in 2019. Abaddon looks to be sitting in the boat of updates and new releases as well! It’s still up for debate if new rules are coming to the older units getting updated models, but Chaos needs whatever they can get!
