GW Just Updated More Warhammer 40k FAQs

warhammer 40k Faq wal hor marine spaceNew Warhammer 40k rule FAQ changes are here for Tau and the not so old Vigilus Defiant supplement as well.  Here’s the latest.

While looking to see if the Iron Hands or Raven Guard FAQs were out we noticed that Warhammer Community updated the Tau and Vigilus Defiant supplements from 40k with a few more updates and tweaks almost half a month past the first September wave.

September Tau FAQ Update Highlights

september faq 9

Tau were reigned back a bit only allowing for a repair once on any turn. This way it can’t be spammed in each phase.

As if Drones weren’t already a problem, they look to have gotten stronger. Weapons that inflict mortal wounds in addition to normal damage have their damage converted into a single mortal wound and one Drone dies. On top of that, if an effect like Tremor Shells slows a target, the unit you shoot at isn’t affected. The Drones take all the debuffs.

Tau Gets Updated October 14

As far as the updates to the faction go beyond the first September FAQ wave, everything is still in magenta on the page. With that said, it doesn’t look like there’s been anything game-breaking added or taken away to the faction. One thing that was added-on looks to be:

riptide movement

You would think that after getting a full 2D6″ movement out of sequence would hem it from moving any further. But up until this point, it looks like it was eligible to charge if it needed to. You probably wouldn’t see it on the table that often because Tau like to shoot, but GW did make a mention that it can’t move afterward. Make sure that if you play Tau you go over the whole FAQ closely yourself.

Vigilus Defiant Updated October 14

If you remember the first campaign book in the Vigilus series- Vigilus Defiant, then you might have already recognized that a majority of the book was thrown into the new Space Marine codex. Essentially, this FAQ was one of the nails in the coffin for the book, making it near-obsolete with the new support for Space Marines. Here are the changes mentioned because of that:

vigilus faq 1

The relic that was only obtainable for the specialist detachment, Reliquary of Gathalamor, has been taken away and put into the Space Marine codex with the same name. GW pulled the relic from the specialist detachment to eliminate confusion on how to get it now.

vigilus faq 2

Note that the Indomitus Crusaders detachment no longer gets the exclusive Bolt Storm, Rapid Fire, Target Sighted and Veteran Intercessors strats from Vigilus either. They have been moved to easily-accessible Strats in the Space Marine codex as long as the unit you pick is an Intercessor.

vigilus faq 3

Once again, like the Relic and Strats from above, the relic was plucked out of the Vigilus book and thrown into the new Space Marine codex. You can get it through the Ultramarines selection vs. having to go into Vigilus. (If you haven’t picked up on it by now, Vigilus Defiant is basically out of date).

We May See Vigilus Defiant FAQ’d More

Imperial Fist wal Centurion

The Vigilus Defiant section might be a running FAQ of sorts as we continue to see Space Marine support. Remember that the Imperial Fists have the Siegebreaker Cohort formation that may go to the wayside in the Vigilus supplement in just one week as well…

With these changes hitting half a month late, are you surprised to see what changed? Do you have any reason to bring the Vigilus Defiant book if you’re playing Space Marines?
