The Renegade Mini GT 40k Tournament is over and now we’re able to look at which lists managed to secure a place at the top! Check out what these winners brought in their army.
Top 3 40k Army Lists: Renegade Mini GT 40k Tournament
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
3rd Place: Drew Ward- Ultramarines
If you are going to play Ultramarines, it’s pretty no contest that you need to take Roboute Guilliman, he offers too much and is an extreme point, efficient model. Other easy pickups include Tigurius for solid psychic support and a Chronus for a cheap buff for the Land Raider. Techmarines are nice if you have enough high priority vehicles like say those two Dreads!
For Troops, we see three min squads of Tactical Squads for cheap bodies to fill out the detachment. Immediately moving onto Elites, 2 Redemptor Dreads offer great firepower with decent options, while Servitors offer support, and the Honour guard are great solo units.
Lastly, there is the Heavy Support. At this point, 6 Eradicators are almost required as they are one of the best anti-armour options for Space Marines. A Landraider was taken to help move up the board and to protect some of the footslogging options, but it also has the hot fire as well.
2nd Place: Kevin Leonard- Nurgle
Moving onto the Nurgle list, the first detachment is Death Guard. Daemon prince plus Chaos lord are both standard options with reroll auras, while the Prince can deal some decent damage. Four Squads of 5 Plague Marines offer tough bodies that are great at holding objectives and the Fould Blightspawn make their grenades a serious threat.
For Fast Attacks, there are three squads of 3 Myphitic Blight-haulers. These are becoming more popular with Nurgle player because of how much firepower they bring to the table despite only being 100 pts apiece. The cover aura for troops is nice but honestly just a bonus. YOu take these as mobile weapon platforms.
The Nurgle list opted to take a small daemons detachment as well. Epidemius is relatively cheap, while the Great Unclean One, is a beast who is very hard to kill and gives you a tiny bit of Psychic support. 5 Nurglings are there to benefit from Epidemius and hold objectives with the Plague Marines.

1st Place: Asa Carlson- Slaanesh Daemons
The first place list is Slaanesh Daemons. They have constantly been at the top, so they may be firing up to be one of the best factions for this early 9th edition meta.
The first section of the list is, of course, the triple Keeper of Secrets, these are beasts in melee and are very hard to deal with effectively given that they are each only 240 pts. Follow that up with three squads of 10 Daemonettes and you’ve got a pretty solid starting point for a Slaanesh list.
The second detachment runs a Contorted Epitome for support and a 4th Keeper of Secrets in Shalaxi Helbane because the only thing better than three is four. They also opted to take three squads of 4 fiends for a tiny bit of mobility and decent enough combatants to grab further objectives.
