3rd Place: Mike Delange- Dark Angels

dark angels walpaper codex

thankskilling DAFirst, up for the Dark Angels list, there’s a huge emphasis on Deathwing, with an ancient, apothecary, and champion right out of the gate. Add in an Ezekiel plus an Interrogator Chaplain and you’ve got a thematic and super beefy top end of leadership.

thankskilling DA 2Then jumping straight into Elites, there’s a Deathwing Command Squad with their great Bodyguard skill, preventing Characters from getting shot if this squad is closer. There’s a total of 20 knights with maces and shields meaning they are running straight into melee and will definitely get some kills.

Lastly, there 400 pts of Deathwing Terminators, jacked-up with almost entirely melee, making this list an absolute menace in melee if enough of the army makes it there.

2nd Place: BamBam Hunter- Adepta Sororitas

For HQs, there’s a Canoness and a Junith Eruita. Both are solid choices giving great rea-roll auras to the list, which seems to become rarer with Space Marines losing some of theirs. For Troops, there are 3 squads of Battle Sisters, the bread and butter of an Adepta Soriritas army, pretty standard.

thankskilling sisters 2Moving onto Elites and Heavy Supports, there’s 2 squads of Repentias getting some great melee units to mix it up and cause some havoc. Then there’s 3 Exorcists for some good anti-armor, a squad of mortifiers for even more ranged support, and 3 Penitent Engines for some close combat options alongside the Repentia.

thankskilling sisters 3One last squad of Penitent Engines brings the total up to 6, offering a good number of those great close combat machines. Lastly, there are two immolators offering good weapons and decent transport for some of your troops.

1st Place: Nathan Bates- Necrons

necron wal

thankskilling necronThe first thing you notice in a Necron list is the Silent King. Granted how much he offers there’s not really a reason not to take him. He is a beast, especially if you can protect him.

thankskilling necron 2Plasmancer, Overlord, and Technomancer offer a nice suite of buffs and utility for the list, just so long as you can keep them all separated mentally. As for the body of the list, there’s a single squad of 20 Warriors and 6 Skorpekh Destroyers. While there is a strangely low number of warriors, granted how good Skorpekh Destroyers are in melee, it’s probably worth the trade-off. Ultimately, both units are there to match other troops.

thankskilling necron 3Scarabs are always good for only 90 points per 6, whether it’s getting objectives or wrapping up troublesome units.

Wrapping up the Necron List, there are actually 2 squads of 3 Lokhust Heavy Destroyers (shocker), giving the list a good amount of anti-armor OR infantry shooting. These have been dominating Necron lists lately. And lastly, a single Skorpekh Lord to help march up the board and be a menace in melee.

Necron Victory- Congrats to Nathan on the win!

What do you think about these 40k army lists from the Thankskilling 3? Are Space Marines going to stay at the top in 9th Edition? What do you think about Necrons?
