Cold Open Stories is a for the fans, by the fans, Warhammer fiction website. It is a great place to get unique stories and audio dramas. They have a surprisingly high production quality, which looks like it’s made by a huge company. Except it isn’t, and best of all, it’s free!

Free Black Library Warhammer 40k Style Stories: Cold Open Stories
The galaxy is filled with dystopian societies, deadly aliens, and entities born of the darkest nightmares. Within these pages you will find the stories of lesser-known individuals, each struggling to survive the conspiracies and conflicts raging around them.
This is the home for fans of Black Library fiction.
With a universe as gigantic as Warhammer, a little bit of fan fiction can go a long way. Especially when you consider just how much of the hobby you can RP, by making custom characters and narrative campaigns! Some of these reads/listens are great ways to get inspired for that side of the hobby.
There are a ton of options for audio dramas. Even better, they seem to be better at spreading the love than GW with a ton of variety. Each drama features what seems to be a different faction, and this isn’t even all of them! If you want something quick to listen to while hobbying or relaxing, these are all great options.
They also feature “Short Fiction” which is estimated to be around 20-40 minute reads. This might just be perfect if you ride public transportation, or even during a lunch break! Short Stories are great because of how easily you can jump in and out, you don’t have to dedicate a ton of time to experience a journey or special story.
