Top Homebrew 40k Army Lists: Siege of Augusta GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsTwo more off-meta 40k army lists emerged in the Siege of Augusta GT Tournament. Take a look at these homebrew lists!

9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out these awesome homebrew lists that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and just goes to show that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Top Homebrew 40k Army Lists: Siege of Augusta GT

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

Siege of Augusta GT: Robbie Lorenz- Death Guard

Death Guard Wal Hor Nurgle Death Guard Space Marine Heroes 3 SPOTTED!

soa home dg 1The first thing to note is this is not using the new codex as it is brand new. This may be okay though because as we will see most of these units got buffs in the codex meaning this list may have gotten better.

Of course, the Death Guard is led by their Daemon Primarch Mortarion. He is running Miasma and Blades to protect himself and buff his melee. Mortarion is a beast in combat. If you can protect him before he gets into melee he will do work to the enemy forces. (just remember blades is gone now).

soa home dg 2Moving onto an Outrider detachment, it is led by a Daemon Prince with wings to be able to move more freely and offer support and melee power wherever it is needed each turn.

Elites consist of two Foul Blightspawn, which offer some charge protection and a pretty good flamer to help clear chaff.

Heavy Support brings a ton of firepower in two Defilers and 3 Plagueburst Crawlers. The defilers are kitted out with chaff clearing weapons to help get rid of smaller units or even marines, while the Crawlers have great long-range weapons that can harass pretty much anything all game assuming you can protect it.

soa home dg 3The third detachment switches it up and in a patrol of Nurgle Chaos Daemons. This detachment is simple enough with an Epidemius and Poxbringer to give daemon engines buffs, and if needed the nurglings as well.

There are 6 Nurglings to finish out the list. These are great bodies that help soak tons of pressure and help your armies push up the board with a little less pressure on them.

Siege of Augusta GT: Charles Lowry- Craft Worlds

soa home eldar 1The second homebrew list is a single detachment of pure Craftworld Eldar. They are led by three Warlocks and a Farseer. This group of characters offers a ton of Psychic support while not being that expensive and being ok in combat on their own.

soa home eldar 2For Troops, there are a total of 30 Dire Avengers. These are the bread and butter of an Eldar force. They are great, cheap troops that help man vehicles and hold your front line while more elite options can do what they are meant to.

soa home eldar 3The last Troop is a squad of rangers, these are great because they can move up a little further on turn one potentially helping you nab an objective turn 1.

Fast Attacks have triple Vypers. These have great mobility and add a good about of speed to the list in case you need last-second support on one of your fronts.

Heavy Support sees 6 Dark Reapers, a Lynx, and 3 War Walkers. Dark Reapers are great infantry that can lay down the hurt on enemy armor, while a Lynx is literally more concentrated with all the firepower on one body, but equally good at killing armor. Lastly, the War Walkers are decent at shooting while having good mobility for a good price.

soa home eldar 4Finally, for transports, there are three Wave Serpents to help transport either some dire avengers or maybe the Dark Reapers and some characters. Their hard to hit trait makes them especially good at protecting some important units you want to move up the board on the first turn or two.

Overall these lists offer a little bit of a different approach but we like them because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta. Even better they got great results from the players who piloted them! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.
