Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Glasshammer #5 GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Glasshammer #5 GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can check out the details for the event here.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorite, but still strong lists!

Glasshammer #5 GT: Jay Middlecote – Imperial Knights (8th Place)

renegade knight wal

Jay middlecote knights homebrewJay went all-in on Knights, running a total of only 7 models! Starting off with the cheaper (comparatively) “Knights”, he went with a total of 4 Warglaive with plain heavy stubbers.

These can help out by being both wound sponges and just extra, mobile, threats that can cause issues for opposing chaff if they differ their focus to the backline, plus they are obsec now too!

Also in the lineup are two Knight Crusaders! These are both running Missile Pods and Thermal Cannons, making for some heavy-hitting anti-armor shots to help take down opposing vehicles or larger models. of course with all knights, they have the huge benefit of being very durable!

Finally, the last model is a Magaera Knight, which gets its Twin Rad-cleanser and is perfect for cleaving through waves of multi-wound models like space marines or even terminators! All-in-all each knight seems to serve a special role, and their extreme durability helps this out by making it hard for your opponent to eliminate your tools without you first getting a chance to use them!

This list just goes to show us that mono faction, point dense, lists can still perform decently, but you still have to play it correctly! It also proves that older, strong lists can still perform decently with shifting metas sometimes.

The new balance update may have also helped bring this faction up to speed with their new Objective Secured access!
