GW Teases What May Be New Space Hulk Coming in 2022

space hulk lore space marinesGW may have just teased what has been rumored for over a year,  that a new edition of Space Hulk is on the way in 2022- check it out!

We’d been hearing about a new Space Hulk for some time now but weren’t sure how true it was. However, GW just put out a little teaser trailer that could point to this. We’ll also take a look at some rumors from last year that got a ton of stuff right and also points to a new edition along with what to expect for other armies.

Keep in mind that while the time frame is off for what was coming out, with COVID and everything else going on with GW that seems to be the norm.

So no real worries there, just can’t trust the rumored release dates 100%.

GW Teases What May Be New Space Hulk Coming in 2022

The rumors come from /tg and the teaser vid comes from Warhammer Community’s Twitter.  Let’s start with what this rumormonger got right to prove they are a solid source (as this was initially from last summer).

Space Hulk New EditionSo right off the bat, they got the Tau 100% right, the Chaos Knights correct, and the Craftworlds. While we’re a little more focused on the new Space Hulk, if we see that much for CSM, players should be quite happy!

We’ve also heard from other sources that renegade guard are going to be a thing, so it’s good to see more about it. Oh yeah, and Squats, so we’re going to believe with all our hearts it’s true!

If that isn’t enough, they predicted plenty of other things as well below:

  • Are the Kill Team Octarius box Orks/DKoK gonna be re-released separately? If so when? Soon™ (Probs within 2-3 months)
  • To add to this anything about the upcoming killteam boxes? Tau and Sisters are getting a box. Also, there will be a new Harlequins unit released through the Kill Team line.
  • Tau are getting a surprise reveal over new years with a codex and a couple of models end of January
  • Any chance we’ll get more Sisters of Silence options for Kill Team: Sisters of Silence is getting something, I’m not sure what, but something with the next Custodes codex.

Again, time frames are a little off, but nothing too crazy with the state of the world. Now that there is some voracity for these claims, let’s check out all the new rumors!

Rumors: New Edition of Space Hulk Coming in 2022

Here’s the big rumor from that list above that got us thinking with the new teaser video:

  • Space Hulk is getting a new edition Summer of 2022

Now, this is somewhat old and we had seen it a while ago, but with the new video, there may just be something to this.. Since we’ve been hearing about this for a year, it’s nice to finally see something official about it.

Obviously with how the timelines for everything have been it now looks more like a Fall release. With Horus Heresy most likely taking the Summer slot.

While this doesn’t say too much, could it be a teaser for a new edition of Space Hulk! It’s about as obvious of a teaser trailer we’ve gotten from them in a while. So, be on the lookout for more!

As it turns out this was a teaser for something much, smaller…

Squats Warhammer 40k Teaser Video?

On April 1st, 2022, (KEEP IN MIND THATS APRIL FOOLS DAY) Games Workshop released the following video that has a tiny surprise at the end…

a short announcement

With the galaxy split in twain, and Xenos threats and the forces of Chaos in the ascendant, a new power rises:

Could it really mean the return of the Squats? Well, yes apparently, as they tried to pull the old double bluff on us!

GW Confirms New 40k Squats aka the Leagues of Votann

This is no April fools, Games Workshop has confirmed 40k Squats as a new faction called the Leagues of Votann, and even showed the first miniature!

April Fool’s joke? The Leagues of Votann don’t do jokes! Or probably April for that matter…
40k Squats
Yes, they’re really real. In an April Fools double-bluff that had Tzeentch himself scratching his feathered head, Humanity’s long-lost cousins actually are making their return to the 41st Millennium as a full Warhammer 40,000 faction.
The model itself is really sweet and honestly, the name change is probably a good thing as it just sounds cool. But we won’t mind if you call them by their OG name!
40k Squats 2

These warriors have a long and proud martial history, and to those who aren’t on their bad side, they’re known as the Leagues of Votann – though they refer to themselves as Kin.

Although their civilisation shares common roots with Humanity, the Leagues of Votann have an uneasy relationship with the Imperium of Man. Unlike their superstitious Human cousins, the Leagues emerged from the Age of Strife with far more of their ancient technology intact, including some infamous advances the Imperium would consider extremely heretical.

This is a cool idea in terms of weaponry as well. It looks like you just won’t have shorter Guardsmen with Lasguns or something like that. Let’s just hope they have some really cool weapons!

40k Squats 3

Their knack for science and a headstrong nature make for skilled warriors backed up by reliable weaponry, as you can see from even this basic trooper. And while there’s no love lost between the Leagues of Votann and Humankind, the resurgence of Chaos and ascendent xenos hordes mean there are usually more pressing concerns than fighting each other.

Lastly, they say it will be a few months before we see them, but we’re sure there will be teasers and lore galore in the meantime!
