Star Wars X-Wing: Wave 4, Big Rebel Ships!

By Super Kaiju | August 18th, 2013 | Categories: Star Wars, Tabletop Gaming News & Rumors, X-Wing 2.0

And just when I thought we could cool down and relax Fantasy Flight goes ahead and does something silly at Gencon! Big ships…very big ships!

Time to take a breather and start squeeing! Done? Ok, SPECULATION TIMES! Sadly I couldn’t be attending Gencon right now, so this is all I’ve seen from the interwebs. So if I’m missing something, my bad.

So, we got uh…well crap I haven’t a clue what those ships names are. I know the one is something Corvette…uh. I’m a bad Star Wars fan…to the internets! Ah, so a Rebel Transport and a Corellian Corvette. See, I knew a little! But uh, my question is why a Rebel Transport is there? Granted I guess since the Imperials got one Rebels need one. Though they were much larger then the Lamba and we’re exactly built for fighting, last seen fleeing Hoth? And while we did see the Corvette shooting and taking shots at the very beginning of New Hope, I dunno if that’s exactly a big fighter ship rather then just a transport for VIPs, or a spoil princess’s car she got from her senator daddy.

How will they play though is what I’m curious about. I haven’t a single clue on that transport one. I’m going to assume it has weapons, but as far as how offensive they are, last I checked at the very least they were made to run away. So perhaps fast? Or we’re they just pure transport ships meant to carry a bunch of people or cargo? And the Corvette, I’ll assume its got a 360 fire arc and all that, and perhaps we’ll see a few more guns on it then just 3 shots, maybe 4 or 5, since its a large ship and all. But I can only imagine both these ships aren’t gonna be able to dodge well, if at all. I honestly expect they’re not going to have a single agility die, but instead of a very large amount of shields and hull points to make them very tanking. Going to be very interesting to say the least.

Also, how come no Imperial ships being shown off? Well, one can speculate that they’re holding off, waiting for Wave 3 to be fully out and running before showing off to much. But to my knowledge they aren’t any ships that size for Imperials. After what we have fighter wise we go into Star Destroyers. Not to mention Super Star Destroyers that make the regular ones look tiny. Plus I’m sure we’re all waiting for that giant block we can refer to as the Death Star we can wheel around and place next to gaming tables. Heh, be awesome in a super dumb way. Going to be interesting to see what the future holds for this game. Currently I’m waiting to see when they start pulling Prequel ships in. It’ll happen. Don’t groan! Search your feelings, you know it to be true!
