It’s been a long time coming, but the ‘Guard finally have a plastic Hydra model!
In case you missed it over the weekend, here’s a encore presentation of our Hydra Reveiw.
The new kit makes both the standard Astra Militarum Hydra as well as the new unit called the Wyvern as well.
Both are excellent choices in the heavy support slot and now with Leman Russes costing less and coming in squadrons, these guys may be a “no brainer” to include in your army lists.
The model itself is very articulated, and with the Wyvern’s weapon system basically being the Hydra’s minus the barrels, it’s pretty easy to make both units from one kit.
I’m digging the detailed crew compartment and the Cuba Gooding Jr. weapon harness for the gunner as well.
Overall I think it’s a solid design and a great replacement for the original, right down it’s new realistic proportionings.
