On the 3D printing side of things, they don’t want people to infringe on their copyrighted designs by posting about them on official forums. Like with most games, if you’re playing casually with a group and they don’t seem to care about 3D bits and models. They just don’t want you posting on official forums with your 3D models or bits.

Currently, there aren’t official tournaments and events put on directly by Catalyst. This means that in your friendly local games, you can still use 3d printed models and bits.

All in all Catalyst Game Labs has recently updated their community guidelines and 3D printing policy for BattleTech, in an attempt to address sensitive issues and protect their copyrighted designs. However, the changes have received mixed reactions from the community, with some users expressing dissatisfaction with the new policies.
