Fallout Factions Nuka World Getting Famous New Minis & Rules

Former Necromunda designer James Hewitt talks about some of the new expansions and rules for the Fallout Factions Nuka World game!

If you love the idea of Fallout Wasteland from Modiphius but were never too into the tabletop game, this might just be perfect for you! James Hewitt, the former Games Workshop designer for titles like Necromunda, Adeptus Titanicus, and Blood Bowl 2016, has developed the new Fallout Factions Nuka-World skirmish game.

Nercomunda Designer Talks New Fallout Nuka World Factions

In a recent interview, designer James Hewitt gave a bunch of details about the new releases for Fallout Factions Nuka World. The game is set to launch in April with three different raider gangs (the sets are already on pre-order). However, there is no need to worry, as James says the Brotherhood of Steel and Super Mutants will get Fallout: Factions rules in time. So, even if you don’t feel like the current gangs are for you, it shouldn’t be too long until the others join the game.

Playing Fallout Factions

For the sake of new players and to create a focal point for the game experience, the game starts with only gangs of raiders. Hewitt says, “The raiders are a nice starting point with varied stats, varied weapons, but they are roughly equivalent.” While the famous factions are very central to the actual lore of the game, their rules are going to be much more wild and varied, so this seems like a good starting point to launch the game.

Modiphius has released three plastic kits that reveal the distinct identities of the raider gangs. There are the Operators who are slickly dressed, the feral Pack, and the fanatical Disciples. Apart from having different stats and wargear, each raider group has unique one-shot abilities that are specific to their faction, called Ploys.

He says the ploy system is similar to 40k Stratagems, or Gang Tactics, which will give you more playability throughout the game. There will also be mission-specific ploys for opening rounds of fire and much more. Each faction also plays much differently; for example, he says when playing with Disciples, “If you kill someone in melee combat, you can use a Ploy to let all your people nearby regain some fatigue,” this perfectly reflects their frenzied nature.

Starting from Feb. 5, you can pre-order Fallout: Factions – Battle for Nuka-World for $100. This package includes two sets of multipart plastic miniatures of The Pack and The Operators factions, two of the factions featured in the Nuka World DLC for Fallout 4. Additionally, it features an impressive 24-by-36-inch playmat, 86 tokens, a real tape measure, punch-out terrain, and some fancy dice.
