With the impending release of Adeptus Titanicus, now is the time to prepare for the god-machines to walk! Here are some helpful tips and tools to get your titans looking their best.

Some helpful info is already been out about how the new Titan kits work. Each titan will be on 3 runners, each dedicated to a specific type of parts. Divided into weapons, superstructure, and armor plates, each Titan will be easy to assemble in a modular fashion.

The weapon mounts are also designed to accept magnets for easy weapon swapping, the size being 5mm x 1mm, read as diameter by height. So get some magnets for your god machines so you can have your pick of custom weapon load outs. I hear Magnet Baron has what you need. Having the runners this way makes for easy sub-assembly painting, this is where some of our other handy tools come in.magnets

Sticky tack or blue/white tack is helpful for holding parts in place before final gluing. One way to get a great looking Titan is to assemble the superstructure fully, then use tack to attach the armor panels for easy painting or airbrushing. Then remove the finished panels to paint the superstructure.sticky tac

Alternatively, you can use alligator clips to hold parts for spraying. This is a trick from the scale modeling and gunpla world, these clips can hold small parts on wood sticks and be stuck into blocks of foam or cardboard. alligator clipsclips on sticks

If you’re worried about structural integrity, pinning is the way to go, simple paper clips from any office supply sections will do the trick. The standard pinning drill and bit from Citadel or Army Painter work for paper clips just fine.

Ok, let’s get into customization!

Masking tape is a great way to get clean lines and stripes for you Titan’s livery. I recommend Tamiya brand, the small width tape works great for the smaller scale of Titanicus.stripesstripe painting tips

For some extra detail, jeweler’s chain is great for an aesthetic touch.

A favorite of those renegade Titan princeps, jeweler’s chain can give a gritty and mean look to your Titan, the smaller the better since Titanicus is at the 8mm scale. You can find chain wholesale online, or pretty cheap at hobby craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.tiny chains

For those of you who like to display the heraldry of your legion, making banners or flags can be a bit tricky, recently I found that using Citadel Palette paper works great. It can even be heat molded and shaped using a lighter or heat gun! titancitadel palette pad
