Do you love Troggoths and grots? Don’t miss the new rules and more images of the new Gloomspite Gitz units that were spotted recently as Troggoths are getting a massive update!

Gloomspite Gitz are coming to the table in full swing, and they’ll be bringing all sorts of creatures that lurk the crevices of the earth like the all the new re-imagined Troggoths.

Troggoths (the models formally know as Trolls) are age-old models that have always been around, yet nobody ever seems to play them. Games Workshop may have noticed and decided to bring these guys back into the picture, as now they are getting a new leader, a brand new unit, and updated models!

Before we jump right into the latest. Make sure you take a look at the new Troggoths from this release to see what we’re talking about.

Rockgut & Dankhold Troggoths Lumbering In

New Hotness

Previous Model Post From the ’90s

Taking a look at the Rockgut Troggoths first. These guys are an old unit with some much-needed updated models. They’re really just dumb and resilient Troggoths that stick to the mountainsides by themselves. However, making one angry could result in a few broken bones…or broken everything.

Now, let’s check out the biggest and baddest of all the Troggoths in the realm.

troggoth

The new Dankhold Troggoth is going to come in two variations. You’ll be able to bring the Dankhold Troggoth as a normal unit. Or as a Leader called the Dankhold Troggboss. We don’t know the stats on this guy just yet. But our gut instinct tells us that stone hammer is going to turn heads.

Antisocial and reclusive, these behemoths dwell in the darkest… well, dankholds, where they slumber away the decades, awakening only to feast on the magical fungi that grow upon the realmstone deposits in the roots of the Mortal Realms. Such raw magic doesn’t kill the Dankhold Troggoths as it would lesser creatures, but instead mutates them into the vast, lumbering monsters you see here.

Troggoth Warscroll Battalion Previews & More

troggherd

Let’s take a look at the Troggherd that was spotted on Dakka. In all honesty, it’s nothing too crazy compared to some other Warscrolls Battalions out there, but it’s something.

So what does the Troggherd do exactly?

Everyone in the Battalion gains Eat on the Move: Each unmodified wound roll of a 6 adds 1 to the damage characteristic of the attack. Nothing crazy… but it’s nice that damage spills over in AoS so there will be nothing wasted. You’ll need a Dankhold Troggboss (The leader version for the Dankholds), and then 3-9 units of any kind of Troggoths. This is always nice because it leaves the door open for the player to try all sorts of combos and still have a Battalion for his favorite faction at the end of the day.

dankhold troggoth

The Dankhold Troggoth/Troggboss is absolutely massive. A picture was spotted with him standing next to some allies and he completely towers over them. (An easy thing to do when you compare a Troggoth to a Git). Nonetheless, we’re excited to see his rules and the damage output on that ridiculously big hammer.

Judging by this picture his base appears to be 80-100mm, as it dwarfs the Rockguts base which after the Dec 2018 FAQ we know to be 60mm now.

gloomspite squigs

Now, last but not least, we can check out more of the Squigs in action.

mangler

Squigs really needed some model updates and GW brought them in full force. The Squigs look absolutely ferocious and are coming with a whole slew of Squig Herders to keep them in check. Check out the sheer size of the Mangler Squigs next to a crowd of the regular ones. Our guess is that these units will be able to barrel into an enemy line, wreak all sorts of damage, and then fade away in a turn.

Will you be playing an all-Troggoth army in AoS 2.0? Do you have some ideas on what the rules for the Dankhold Troggoth will be? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
