Remember, these are mostly designed for new players to the latest faction and are marketed as a quick way to get an army on the table to play some small games fast.

Most times, the starter-style kits are a pretty good value. So even if you have some of the models for the armies, these could be a decent value. Let’s see what you can save!

Soulblight Gravelords Vanguard Box: $140

Expand the dread territory of the Soulblight Dynasties with a vanguard box containing 29 miniatures. This bite-sized battalion is led by a vainglorious Vampire Lord, 20 Deathrattle Skeletons, five Blood Knights, and three monstrous Vargheists.

Is the Soulblight Gravelords Vanguard Box Worth it?

The value isn’t the highest we’ve seen, but it’s definitely not the worst and ranks the exact same as the Hedonites of Slaanesh box. Honestly, you get a pretty decent mix of minis inside, and a lot of the value is not stuck in heroes, meaning even if you already have some models, this is still a good buy.

With only $35 taken by characters, you really can’t go wrong here if you need the minis inside.

What to Buy Next for the Soulblight Gravelords?

Honestly, this is a pretty balanced box without too much of any one thing. So, you can use this as a decent base force and sort of build it any way you want. You’ll want to add some more characters to really punch up your power and command options.

After that, you have to decide if you want to slog across the board with a ton of skellies, or go more for big monsters and cavalry. You can easily add on a bunch of skeletons, zombies, and a few corpse carts to really just overwhelm the enemy with numbers, and maybe even take a dragon to really show off your might!

Vanguard: Ossiarch Bonereapers: $140

Ensure the tithe is collected on time with Vanguard: Ossiarch Bonereapers, which contains a Mortisan Soulreaper, five Kavalos Deathriders, 20 Mortek Guard, and a Gothizzar Harvester to put your constructs back together should they fall in battle.

Is the Ossiarch Bonereapers Vanguard Box Worth it?

This doesn’t have the greatest value overall, but again, only $33.50 is taken up by a character in value, so you do get a lot of troops. If you are just starting the army, or need the minis inside, it will save you cash.

However, if you don’t need even one of the kits inside, it’s only saving you about $15. Again though, if you need the minis, it basically gets you any one of the kits for free and half the character, so not bad overall.

What to Buy Next for the Bonereapers?

This gives you a decent starting force, but one of the best things about playing the Bonereapers is playing wild stuff! So if you ask us, we start buying all the big constructs like the Morghasts, Crawlers, and Stalkers! This might not be the most cost-effective way to play them, but the big monsters for this army are just so cool.

Obviously, you’ll want a few more Mortek Guard to fill out the army and even grab Katakros (because he’s one of the coolest minis out there) to lead your forces!
