The fur for the 3DArtDigital Orc warlord is on his hammer. To start, mix up Old Mud and Dark Wood from Secret Weapon Miniatures and spray it over all the fur to set a mixed brown base coat.

Mix in Light Dust and spray that over the tips to bring up the highlight on the fur itself. Next, spray Weathered Wood over the tips to pop the highlights out even more.

To bring in more contrast, time to add in some shade! Mix Tire Black and Dark Wood together and spray toward the top of the fur to bring in shadows. You can go back and forth between shadow and highlight to build the fur as much as you want in one direction or the other to blend the two together.

Brush Orange Rust over the ropes. Using an orange keeps the theme of the rest of the model but allows the fur to stand out, making it really pop. Next, dry brush Weathered Wood over the fur to really enhance the highlights on the tips of the fur. Thin down Soft Body Black and lightly apply it with the grain in the recesses between the strands of fur.

There you have it, an easy way to paint up animal fur! Secret Weapon Miniatures has some fantastic paints to utilize for fur, as well as other great paints for different applications.
