GW revealed the new Age of Sigmar starter this morning to help usher in the new edition! Dubbed Soul Wars it will feature the Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunt for AoS in a similar format to 40k’s Dark Imperium.

Warhammer Community has announced the Soul Wars box set this morning and it’s coming with all sorts of new goodies. It will be available for pre-order June 16th and release on June 30th.

Soul Wars Factions

They hit us with this video earlier this morning and released some pictures of what we are going to be getting.

Looks like Stormcast players will be getting 3 different spell-casting squads with the Lord Arcanum, the Knight-Incantor, and the Evocators. All of the models in this box are what was previewed at Warhammer fest a few weeks back.

Nighthaunt are getting a wizard as well with the Guardian of Souls. They’re getting 1 spirit torment. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to a couple more of those guys sprinkled in your army. On top of that, they’ll have a bunch of new models with chains and rusty scythes to club away at those boys in gold.

On top of getting those fresh models, you’ll be getting 3 booklets. It will tell the story of Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunt meeting their new forces for the first time.

Say goodbye to having to hunt things down on the Warhammer Azyr! The box set is also coming with stat cards for all the models. These cards will have the pictures of all the units, their rules and abilities, and keywords.

Core Book

Last but not least, you’ll be getting a core book that has 320 pages of lore advancement, mortal realm coverage, and faction details.

And that’s just the first half – the second part of the Core Book is dedicated to playing games. As well as the essential core rules, you’ll find loads of content designed to let you expand your games however you choose. Here’s just some of what you get:

  • Realm of Battle rules that let you set your games in the mystical landscapes of the Mortal Realms.
  • An Open War Battleplan generator that makes choosing which battleplan you play easy, and some basic rules for multiplayer games.
  • A guide to all sorts of narrative play games, from desperate sieges to brutal subterranean warfare, and some inspiration for your own campaigns.
  • Six matched play battleplans, as well as Battle Strategies – a new way to score your games that rewards quick-thinking and flexibility.

Stay tuned for more on AoS 2.0 today. There’s plenty to cover. But for now what do you think about the box set? Will you be splitting it with someone or keeping it all to yourself? Let us know in the comments over on our Facebook Hobby Group.
