New 40k Rules – Where’s the FAQs?

We keep hearing that there are “new faq’s” on the way from both GW and Forge World customer service teams, but where are they?

Yesterday BoLS shared this message from Forge World promising work on a new FAQ:

BoLS reader m0nolith had a simple question:

Cound I use the Minotaurs chaplain special character “Ivanus Enkomi” as my chaplain in a battle demi-company?

So he composed a nice letter to the fine chaps at Forge World and clicked “send”.  Expecting nothing, m0nolith was shocked to receive this reply:

“Hi .

Our rules guys will be working on an errata/faq to cover how the Forge World Space Marine characters and units interact with the new Codex: Space Marines. We can’t tell you when this this will happen as we simply don’t know at the moment but hopefully it shouldn’t be too far away.

In the meantime we think it’s perfectly acceptable to replace any of the character types mentioned in the Codex: Space Marine formations with any of the Forge World Space Marine characters where appropriate. By this last point we mean Captains exchanged for Captains, Chaplains for Chaplains and Chapter Masters or Chapters Masters etc.”

Then about two months ago, the same thing on Faeit:

I have a contemptor mortis dreadnought and a chaplain dreadnought. I was
curious if the rules for these will be FAQed or updated to be brought in
line with dreadnoughts in the new space marines codex, which now have more
attacks and chapter tactics?
Cheers,

Thanks for your e-mail. Our rules team are currently working on several
FAQs and errata to update our older publications and these will be released
in the near future. We will, of course, pass your questions on to them.
In the meantime we think it’s fair to use any MK4 or MK5 Dreadnoughts with
the amount of attacks that they now have in the new Codex: Space Marines
but Any Contemptors would still have the amount of attacks that are printed
in their current rules.
If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any
queries about the information we have requested or provided, please
telephone us.
Regards,
Forge World

So what is going on? It’s been over two months since the first we were promised a FAQ for the new marines. Is GW and Forge World’s responses rhetoric or a sure thing that they are on the case?

The good news is that either way it looks like they are aware that an update is needed, and they are perhaps slowly preparing a response?

This may be the true Imperial Bureaucracy at work.

What would you like to see FAQed?
