This video is quicker than usual, but that doesn’t make it any less cool!

Testing Chrome Paints For Miniatures: Galharen Painting Tutorial

Chrome Paints For MiniaturesFor this, he will use the six chrome paints from Green Stuff World. The paints are alcohol-based paints, meaning you cannot use water to dilute the paints, so instead, he’s going to use 95% pure alcohol on all the paints to get them the consistency he wants.

Gold

Chrome Paints For Miniatures 2To start, he will basecoat all the shields with GW black Primer. This didn’t give the effect he wanted, but he might have done something wrong. It is still a fabulous gold, but it didn’t give the mirror effect he was looking for.

Bronze

Chrome Paints For Miniatures 3This time, he applied every line with a new bit of paint and went with only vertical lines; this gave a much better effect than his first try. So be sure to keep reapplying paint and going in vertical lines.

Copper

He actually feels like the airbrush takes away from the effect so he wouldn’t recommend a second layer through the airbrush.

Short Strokes

Chrome Paints For Miniatures 5He got the best results by applying very short brush strokes, as the paint dries quickly, and long brush strokes show too much. So, this time, he did shorter strokes and added new color to the brush almost constantly to get a more mirrored effect.

As you can see, this is far more mirrored.

Chrome Paints For Miniatures 7There is a slight learning curve, but you can get some really cool effects depending on how you apply the paint! Above is all the different colors after using the methods from the Chrome Metal step, and they all look great.
