kenny 3d printed minis titan-forgeKenny got his hands on some Titan-Forge 3D printed models and was asked to do a collab comparison video for them. Let’s check how it turned out.

Titan-Forge has been growing, recently, due to its insanely detailed models considering they came from a 3D printer. The question then arises, how much better is their printer than a budget printer you might have at home? Kenny is here to answer that question!

titanforge 3d print compareFirst things first, Kenny is gonna try and make the “home-made” model look good in order to compare it to the Titanforge model.

titan prehihglightHe starts out with a basic 3 layer pre-highlight.

tf red brown orangeHe uses a mix of some Pro Acryl browns, reds, and yellows to highlight the fish and start on the rider.

tf skin doneHe then moves onto Jade for the saddle color and Pale Pink and some red for the skin, then removing the red and using more Pink to get the skin to look more realistic, keep in mind we will wash over this so it should be a little brighter than our goal.

tf highlightsKenny is moving pretty quick, so jumping forward a few steps we can see he used some blacks on the clothes and hair, then edge highlighted the fish with some whites and greys. He also does the eyes quickly with a basic black and white. Lastly, he puts a few lines on the black parts of the clothes to add depth and highlights the yellows as well.

tf washed upUsing his Oil wash system, he quickly washes it with Multiblack, then goes over it with the solvent to remove the excess.

tf doneAnd with that, he just goes over the colors once more re-introducing the same color to the fabric and skin to skin it up and give it even better highlights.

titan-forgeWith Kenny’s model finished he quickly realized that its worth it to invest in a budget 3D printer and go to companies like Titan-Forge who offers free .STL file downloads so you can print your own models. Even here with the budget printer, the model looked great.
