40k Strategy- Adepticon Gladiator Tournament.

I have been pretty busy lately gearing up for Adepticon ’11. Right now I am not 100% sure on all the events I will play in, but I know for sure I’ll be hitting up the Gladiator, because its the event I really like out of all of them.

As fate would have it, we are actually running an Adpeticon Gladiator primer here at FTW Games next Sunday the 20th. Since it is my store- I won’t be playing in it, but I will be there running the event. Locally on the forums though people sighing about the prospect of facing Super Heavies in this event.

Well do not fret, professor MBG is here to give you pointers on how to deal with those pesky points hogs.

First off the primer missions are a tad bias towards the big uns, as have the actual missions in the past.  One missions is night fight but allows you to still see all superheavies and gargantuan creatures. This is a bonus for super shoot builds you can make and should allow you the upper hand if your timing is right. Another gives you a vortex grenade, that once delivered can do D3 structure points- and continues to drift about.  BONUS.

If you face a titan, it may be best to assault it. Once inside its void shield you can do way more damage with a p-fist or grenades that from shooting. IF you have no choice but to shoot a titan, just use lower strength/ higher shot weapons like autocannons to try to drop their shields before striking with more powerful lascannons or multimeltas.

Also successively stunning a shooty super heavy instead of destroying a weapon is a victory in itself. Do not be afraid to target a main weapon on a super heavy, their save is still 50/50 you are bound to win that roll eventually.  No shoots = more time to do work.

Check the APOC books- There is a ton of small yet still effective units that you can use (and easily convert) to use in this event.  For example the Damocles command rhino is a STEAL for 60 points in a marine list, and a cool achievable conversion.

Never forget to check the mission!  Get all the points you can- even in the face of possible defeat! Never give up, never surrender!!!!
