Best of the Best: Top Armies We Saw From the 2020 LVO: SHOWCASE

Lvo 2020 top imperial 2Rocking the notoriously hard-to-paint color, yellow, these Knights marched onto the field wanting to make a statement to the household they fight for.

lvo 2020 top army final 1When it comes to a factory new paint job, it doesn’t get any better than this. Each armor panel was covered seamlessly in detail. And to throw in even more pop, the bases of scaled-appropriate rubble look incredible.

Lvo 2020 top imperial 5From what we can see, this list incorporates Knights, Admech, and even a Blood Angels contingent. Although they are all painted to the same color scheme (which there’s nothing wrong with).

lvo 2020 top army final 2Jumping into the models, the level of detail on the paint is impeccable. From color fading on the smallest armor plates to pigment paint on the feet of the Knight, these models look like they just stepped out into the real world from the future.

lvo 2020 top army final 3Every decal is perfect and even has some very high-quality armor chipping that blends another level of depth on each mini.

LVO 2020 top xenos 8For the same reason we liked the yellow Knights, we chose for this Tau force. The color really pops from what most people choose to paint with. (Usually the brighter the color, the harder it is). And yet, every single model looks like it’s fresh out of the Tau Sept factory and ready to Brrrrrrt! enemies away from behind a cloud of Drones.

lvo 2020 top army final 4The Riptides are all positioned differently on their bases which also adds a level of dynamics to the army.

lvo 2020 top army final 5Stepping into AoS, this army won our hearts for the incredible display. Frigates and Gunhaulers are covering the advance of a huge Kharadron ground force.

lvo 2020 top army final 6The super realistic water effects matched with the seamless way the Flying models are fixed to the board just really looks incredible.

lvo 2020 top army final 7This army slipped under the radar of our first pass of Chaos, but each model is rocking a crisp blue with a few dope conversions on the bigger Knights.

lvo 2020 top army final 8Rocking the Thousand Sons Crest with an alternate Anubis head, these Knights are definitely an eerie counterpart to most other Knights on the tabletop.

LVO 2020 top xenos 7Army from David Otten

lvo 2020 top army final 11For our Necron friends, David went with the classic alien green glow effect of the Necrons you see in the artwork. Except he took it to a whole new level. This whole army looks like it’s glowing right off the tabletop and is based on snowy ground.

lvo 2020 top army final 12There’s even a faint glowing effect on the ground from the hovering units just above the surface level!

LVO 2020 top xenos 3And finally, we have to give props to this Aeldari list for doing two things that are rarely done. The first being that the Flyers have their awkward plastic flight stand masked with some alien vegetation.

lvo 2020 top army final 10The second being that this list also incorporates some LED effects on the Wave Serpent-chassis vehicles. Plus, the purple and white color scheme is something we don’t see too often. Especially a crisp one like that!

We move fast taking pictures at events. If any of these are your army and would like credit for it, email us at Support@Spikeybits.com
