Ork Genius

We’re still a month away from Orktober and even more, rumors are popping up this morning. Let’s take a look at some talk of vehicles and stratagems.

We’ve got Speed Freeks rumors for you all right here. If you missed the earlier rumors that mentioned Ghazghkull and some Prime Orks, you can check it out now. we’ll wait.

New 40k Orks Speed Freeks Box Set Spotted

Images of the Speek Freeks box were spotted on a site called Stepping Between Games, and they had more to say along with the pictures as well:

New kits supposedly include:
  • buggies,
  • trukks,
  • trakks,
  • bikes,
  • boyz and
  • nobz.
It’s out next for 40k releases, after the just announced GSC Vs Space Wolf box, but before GSC codex and new minis
If you didn’t know it, Speed Freeks was/is a game you can play on IOS.

A Peek Inside Speed Freeks

It looks like we’ve got a sneak peak of what’s inside the Speed Freeks box. Spotted in the comments on Spikey Bits Hobbies.

GW seems to be favoring the colored plastic kits for all of their box sets lately. Take a look at the sprues inside Speed Freeks for yourself.

Looks like there are a ton of different bases for this box as well I guess good for a box that may contain all the models listed above?

Keep an eye out for the very latest on this HOT release.

Shortly after these pictures surfaced, Warhammer Community released this video showing some of the new models:

After 21 years, the Orks are finally getting an upgrade to their machinery. They needed a tune-up and they’ve definitely gotten one.

This is only one vehicle from the Speed Freeks box and the detail is out of this world. We’ve still got things like bikes to see if the rumor holds true. Who knows how good they’ll look.

RUMORS: Prime Ork Spotted in Latest Speed Freek Preview?

Reddit thread popped up over the weekend discussing a possible Prime Ork spotted in the background of the Speed Freeks preview.

RUMORS: Prime Ork Spotted in Latest Speed Freek Preview?

The muscles on that guy in the back left are about twice the size of a normal Ork Boy. We can’t tell what he’s holding exactly either. It could be some kind of dakka gun or maybe even a bigger Power Klaw.

The picture is difficult to work with. We aren’t sure if he’s riding in the bed of the vehicle or if he’s actually behind it riding something else.

If he is behind it, he looks to be pretty big.

If he is riding that vehicle, it’s one we may not have seen before. The tires don’t seem to match up to the two that have been previewed so far. double barrel

It looks like we may have a rumor engine bit in the background as well. Look at the gun that’s sticking out of the vehicle that monster is on top of.

Could this be the rumor engine bit after all?

RUMORS: New 8th Edition Ork Clan Tactics Revealed

Goff Clan

goff

Goff: Each hit roll of a 6 generates an extra attack in combat.

Not bad when you spam Boyz and Ghazghkull. With each Boy getting four attacks a piece, you’ll be generating a hefty amount of attacks.

Bad Moons

bad moons

Bad Moons: Reroll hit rolls of 1 in the shooting phase.

Obviously, you can see that the synergy with this clan isn’t choppa/slugga Boyz. This Clan rule is something you’d use in a Dakka list.

Evil Sunz

evil sunz

Evil Suns: Add 1″ to movement, advance, and charge rolls. Also doesn’t suffer -1 to hit penalties after advancing and firing assault weapons.

You’d more than likely see this in a “shock and awe” type list. One that is fast moving and relentless in shooting and in combat.

Deff Skullz

deff skullz

Deff Skulls: Units have a 6+ Invulnerable save. In addition, each unit can reroll a single hit, wound, or a damage die each time it shoots or fights.

a 6+ invulnerable may not seem like a lot at first but it essentially makes sure every single model ALWAYS has a save no matter what. When you’re taking 150+ Boyz, you’re bound to make some saves. Assault Cannons are usually scary to Ork plays because they can shred through their lines. This will help alleviate that.

If you’re taking the low-shot count model with high damage, the ability to reroll a certain die each turn also maximizes your value potential.

Freebooters

freebooter

Freebooters: Freebooters get +1 to hit if a friendly Freebooters unit destroys an enemy unit.

We aren’t sure if this would stack or not. But if it is a stackable rule, we will be seeing Orks hitting on 2’s in the tail end of games.

Snakebites

snakebites

Snakebites: Orks have a 6+++ Feel No Pain. This is probably a bit more powerful than the army-wide 6++ invulnerable save. You can always take a Big Mek with a Kustom Forcefield to give you a 5++ save. a 6+++ FNP with a Painboy and the Snakebites Clan rule will just be added tankiness.

Blood Axes

blood axes

Blood Axes: Units can fall back and charge in the same turn. They also always count as being in cover.

This is another clan that’s extremely melee-centric. Not many units in 40k have the ability to fall back and charge in the same turn and now just about any unit in this Ork clan can do it. Powerful to say the least.

More Ork Rumors: Vehicles & Stratagems SPOTTED

Ork 40k

More rumors are emerging as we get closer to Orktober (we’re still a whole month away!). KiriothTV originally talked about this rumor of more Ork support. He said he was handed some rumors sent in by an Ork codex playtester that felt like the Orky mechanics were final or at least very close to finished.

Apparently, this source also named the Boomdakka Snazzwagon, Shockjump dragsta, and Kustom Boomblasta correctly so this rumor could be carrying some weight to it. We’ve got a lot to unpack this morning so sit back and remember to take it all with a side of salt.

More Ork Rumors: Vehicles & Stratagem Rules SPOTTED

New Models, we haven’t seen From KiriothTV

There are still even more vehicles coming.

  • Rockettrukk Squigbuggy
  • Wartrike
  • Megatrakk Scrapjet

The Wartrike is supposedly supposed to be an HQ choice for the Orks. Could that be what the giant Ork was riding in the preview of the Shockjump Dragsta?

RUMORS: Prime Ork Spotted in Latest Speed Freek Preview?

There’s also talk of a new model for Orks called the Mek Shop. It sounds like it’ll be giving buffs to vehicles in close range and be something along the lines of the Imperial Knight Docking Station model. The Mek Shop might give max shots to the vehicles instead of having to roll for them.

We all know how much Orks like rolling for shots.

Rumored Ork Stratagems

Agor_the_Mad_-_Ork_Weirdboy

  • Long Uncontrolled Bursts: Flyers get +1 to hit if they target another Flyer.
  • Get Stuck In: Ork Infantry can Pile in and attack a second time.
  • Grot Shield: Grots can intercept wounds on a 2+ as long as the grot is closer.
  • Green Tide: Select an Ork Boyz unit with at half-strength. Pick them up and redeploy them full-strength within 6″ of a table edge and 9″ from an enemy.
  • Looted: Ork Infantry gain +1 to armor saves if a vehicle is destroyed near them.
  • Ramming Speed: A vehicle can charge 3D6 and do some mortal wounds when they make it into combat.
  • Tellyport: A Player can put 20PL worth of Orks and deepstrike them 9″ away from an enemy unit.

The stratagems here are definitely flavorful and there’s a few in here that can make Orks extremely competitive. For example, the Green Tide. Ork players can spam Boyz for dirt cheap and take them in blobs of Thirty. Being able to replenish your blobs for a few CP is enough to make your opponent waste it’s shooting until you get in close for the kill.

The stratagem may be expensive but Ork players can make Battalions on the cheap. The worst part is, if your opponent kills over half of the unit while you’re still in your deployment, you can set them up again 9″ away from him at full strength.

Looted won’t be a bad option either. Thirty Boyz getting a 5+ armor save will definitely be keeping some alive. At least long enough for you to get into combat again.

Again, these are all rumors so remember to take everything with a side of salt. But if these rumors are true, what do you think about them? Which Stratagems seem most powerful to you? Do you have any idea of what the Ork vehicles will look like? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
