Looks like Combat Patrol Boxes are the way of the future, but is the new Blood Angels Combat Patrol Box worth picking up?
The contents of the box seem fairly similar to the other two already released, but with a little different flair. Let’s break down the overall value of the box and see what kind of cash you can save by picking it up.
These are designed for new players to the factions just like the current Start Collecting Sets that GW introduced back in 2016. They are being marketed as a quick way to get a small force on the table and playing some small games right away. Most times the starter style kits are a pretty good value, so even if you have some Marines already, these could be a decent value.
Honestly, a big part of the value is going to come from the upgrade sprues. The minis themselves will save you cash, but the upgrade sprues aren’t super cheap either! From the looks of it, you’ll get at least one, but if you get two it’s twice as nice!

- At least one Blood Angels Upgrade Sprue: $14 (previous price when sold separately)

This is assuming the price will be the same as the other boxes. But if it is, that’s not a bad value, especially considering if you may get more than one upgrade sprue.
When comparing it to the previous Start collecting boxes, that had roughly $80 in value inside each for a $90 to $100 retail price, it’s pretty on par with them. If you need every unit in the set, it saves you some decent cash for sure. If you’re just getting into the faction, it is a quick way to get a small force in one buy.
