These Three 40k Army Lists Crushed The TSHFT GT

The 40k meta continues to change with the release of new supplements. These are the top Warhammer army lists that crushed the 2019 TSHFT GT

40k players gathered over the weekend for the TSHFT 40k tournament. Competitive lists were duking it out between each other but only three rose to the top. Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event details as if we were there ourselves.

3rd Place: Necrons- Michael Timpe

This Necron list managed to claw its way up to third place bringing some of the best stuff the Necrons have to offer. Working off of 6CP all game, this list had fairly low model count but some seriously heavy-hitting firepower. From the Scarabs grabbing objectives and screening where needed to the Doomsday Arks sitting back and blasting the key threats, the list’s backfield portion was covered.

Moving on from there, The Destroyers would annihilate anything they looked at with the 1CP Reroll everything strat. And finally, the Tomb Blades with Shield Vanes were a big blob of metal that was deceptively hard to kill and offered some fast, reactive firepower. Great job!

2nd Place: Imperial Soup- Scott Cairns

Coming in 2nd place, this Imperial Soup list brought Guard and Blood Angels. The first detachment was a Battalion that loaded up on some Leman Russ firepower. Even one of the Tank Commanders took the 3-flat damage Battle Cannon relic from the Emperor’s Fist Vigilus formation.

As for the second Battalion, more Guardsmen were brought with the focus of indirect fire in an Emperor’s Wrath Vigilus formation. This detachment was relatively cheap and was filled out as a battalion for a CP battery bonus.

Finally, a Blood Angels Battalion filled out with Scouts to clog up the mid-field was brought along and had probably two of the best Blood Angels characters for 8th leading the charge. Mephy and a Smash Captain hunted down whatever key threats were on the table after it was softened up by the Guard’s firepower. Plus, Scott spent -2CP on cherry-picking any Assassin from for each game too. Great list!

1st Place: Chaos- Jim Vesal

And for the first place champ, Jim Vesal brought another evolution of his Chaos list with a Daemon/Marine mix. Ahriman and the Daemon Princes rolled in a Supreme Command detachment and were the problem-solvers for things like tanks in enemy lists. Next, a mixed detachment of a Bloodletter bomb and some Horrors were brought. And finally, a Nurgle Battalion with a whopping 60 Plaguebearers and some key characters hit the field.

Looking at the list, the Plaguebearers were essentially a non-removal blob from the table. The Characters made them especially hard to kill. And the Daemon Princes hid behind them until the perfect time to strike. By turn two, the Bloodletter bomb hit and could melt anything on the lower-toughness spectrum and Horrors acted as the main shooting aspect of the army. Awesome job coming in first and continuously showing us that Chaos has some insane synergies.
