Starting with Midlund Flesh by P3, mixed with some Vallejo Retarder Medium to slow down dry time, glaze gently onto the highlight areas of the face. You start with a very thin mixture of the paint-to-medium, building up the highlight slowly on the highlight areas. Let each layer dry entirely prior to adding more paint. Once you are happy with the level of highlights, time for a wash!

Secret Weapon Ruby wash is mixed with Liquitex Matte Medium to make a very thin wash, easy to pin-drop in particular spots. When thinning the wash, don’t thin it so far that it breaks and separates. With this wash, apply very lightly to shadowed areas, such as by the headdress, under the chin, under the cheekbones, etc. This wash will be applied in several layers, with each coat drying in between applications.

Secret Weapon Red Black wash is used to reinforce the dark spectrum and add more depth to the shadows. Reinforcing the shadows will help the highlights pop even more. Midlund Flesh is then added back onto the highlights in very small lines, hitting the highest points on the highlight areas to really make the highlight pop out. Here you can add weathering as well with the same shade, adding highlighting for weathering as you go. If you go too high with highlights, knock it back down by glazing some wash over.
