We’re getting a look inside the covers of April’s White Dwarf and we’re seeing the official release dates for the much anticipated Idoneth Deepkin.
April’s White Dwarf will be out soon and today we’re getting a look at the new Idoneth Deepkin pages courtesy of SableDnah on Twitter. Before we dive into the Idoneth Deepkin let’s take a look at what the upcoming White Dwarf has in store for us.
Packed with all of the normal goodies of painted minis, battle reports, Shadespire, Necromunda, and 40k this month’s White Dwarf looks like it’s going to have a little bit of everything for everyone. But the big thing is the Idoneth Deepkin. Let’s see what was revealed and when we can expect to see them:
On the bottom right of the image, we can see a pre-order date of April 14th, and they’ll be available in store starting April 21st. It looks like the wait is almost over, and, if GW sticks to their normal plan, we should start seeing previews of the minis and rules leading up to their releases, so make sure you’re checking back for that.
For now, we’re not seeing any models announced in the pages of the White Dwarf that we’ve seen so far, just the Battletome, Warscroll Cards, and Dice. But one thing we are getting a closer look at is the Warscroll for Eidolon of Mathlann.
Eidolon is going to have a 12″ Move, 12 Wounds, 3+ Save, and 10 Bravery. His Spear of Repressed Fury is going to have a 2″ Range, 4 Attacks, 3+ To Hit, 2+ Wound, -2 Rend, and 2 Damage. His Crulhook has a 1″ Range, 4 Attacks, 2+ To Hit, 3+ To Wound, -1 Rend, and 1 Damage.
The Stormshoal has a 3″ Range, 2D6 Attacks, with a 4+ To Hit/Wound, and does 1 Damage.
Of all these weapons it seems like Eidolon’s spear is going to be the most deadly with -2 Rend and 2 Damage, especially because his ability will allow you to re-roll hit rolls of 1 and add 1 to the Damage characteristic for his Spear of Repressed Fury if he charged. Additionally, he can charge in the same turn he made a retreat, and he’ll also heal D3 wounds after a charge move.
Eidolon is also going to have the Fly ability, and you’ll be able to re-roll wound rolls of 1 for friendly Idoneth Deepkin units while they’re within 9″ of him.
Stay tuned for next month’s White Dwarf which will be on sale May 4th, and looks to have more on the enigmatic deepkin.

Hidden for centuries beneath the oceans of the Mortal Realms, the Idoneth Deepkin have finally surfaced – a magnificent and terrifying race of soul-stealing reavers with mastery of the strange magics of the seas.
Colossal sea beasts. Living tidal waves. Predatory shoals of fish. Aelves riding sharks and giant turtles with bolt throwers. We’re in!
We also got a look at one fantastic looking mini that Miniwars claimed to be Eidolon from the White Dwarf preview. But, we can’t confirm that, so take it as you will.
Games Workshop verified it was Teclis narrating the video, and after the preview, and now we know what this model is and that it has two BIG forms!
The latest big reveal of the Idoneth Deepkin has us excited for the future of Age of Sigmar! Sea elves on a bike like fish and eel mounts, a giant turtle chariot model, and flying sharks, what more could you possibly ask for?
So it looks like we have the release lineup for the first half of April now:
- Drukhari pre-order March 31st with a release date of April 7th.
- Stormcast Fastriders and Khorne Magore’s Fiends pre-order April 7th with an initial release date of April 14th.
- Idoneth Deepkin pre-order April 14th with an initial release date of April 21st, and probable multi-week release into May 2018
These next three releases are making April look like it’s going to be a busy month for fans everywhere whether you’re a Sigmar, 40k fan, or both. Make sure you’re checking back in with us for the latest updates leading up to all of these big release dates.
