New Titan rules are coming next week as Adeptus Titanicus just got a new preview from the Titandeath expansion for more Legios and maniples!
Games Workshop dropped more previews for the first expansion for Titanicus, Titandeath, that will be available for pre-order on January 19th, 2019. There’s going to be a grand total of eight new Legio rulesets for the different Titan Legions that marched back in the days of the Horus Heresy, plus new maniples as well.
Let’s go over what’s been previewed:
Loyalist: Legio Astorum
Legio Astorum Titans are known for their ferocity in battle. They are the spearhead of an assault. So how does this translate on the tabletop? Well, they’ll be able to move faster in the first two rounds of the game as well as reroll repair dice when they become damaged.
Loyalist: Legio Atarus
Legio Atarus Titans are set on causing the most damage that they can get through. They have access to infernus missiles that continue to do damage over time to the enemy war machines.
Loyalist: Legio Solaria
Legio Solaria use hunting packs to bring foes to heel, allowing a Solaria Warhound squadron to contain additional Titans. They can even replace Reavers with Warhounds in any maniple. These Titans are aggressive and will bring down foes with the pack mentality of a good hunt. They show this on the table with the Spear of Tigrus rule.
These Titans have no sympathy for the Traitors and will stop at nothing to chase them down and see them fall. They can go into Full Stride without ever needing to make a Command Check.
Loyalist: Legio Defensor Stratagem
Lastly, The Legio Defensors have a stratagem called Blessings of the Emperor. Whenever a hit would force you to roll on the Catastrophic Damage table, the hit is ignored and the Stratagem is discarded. This is essentially your Get out of Jail Free card that you can keep in your back pocket until the time is right.
Now let’s move onto what the Traitors are bringing to the table.
Traitor: Legio Mortis
These cold and calculating killers keep a constant tally of their kills, servitor-choirs droning an endless list across vox-channels, driving the crew to greater fury.
The Mortis Titans are headhunters. Each time a Mortis Titan destroys an enemy Titan, it can reroll a single dice roll of 1 each time it makes a shooting attack. The crazy thing here is that the effects are cumulative. If you kill three Titans with one model, they’ll be able to reroll three rolls of 1, for example.
Traitor: Legio Fureans
The crew of the Fureans Titans come from tribalistic backgrounds with their culture set on hunting foes bigger than themselves. The Fureans Titans get to add 1 to armor rolls when they attack a Titan of an equal or greater size than their own within 12″.
Traitor: Legio Vulpa
These Titans are known for their cruelty in combat. To show this on the table, they get a hefty bonus when they’re close to an enemy Titan.
These Titans get antsy for the fight. When an enemy Titan is close enough, the Vulpa Titans have their Weapon Skill increased by 1 and their Ballistic Skill decreased by 1. You may want to run mostly melee-oriented Titans for these guys and B-line it straight to the enemy.
Traitor: Legio Krytos
Krytos have a thing for massive missiles that can outright obliterate anything that gets hit by it. Legio Krytos Titans with Apocalypse missile launchers can load Earthbreaker missiles. You can either fire it’s normal profile or reduce the dice (2 for a Warlord and 1 for a Reaver) which gives it the Quake trait. The Earthbreaker missiles also increase their strength by 5 when damaging terrain.
Titandeath’s New Maniples
Titandeath is coming with four new maniples including one that’s been highly requested. The Lupercal Light Maniple.
The Maniple consists of 3-5 Warhound Titans which can form into ad-hoc Squadrons of any size. They get some coordinated strike bonuses that can easily spell out death for an enemy Titan caught out of position.
The smaller Warhounds essentially group up to pick one something bigger than themselves to bring it down. They even add +2 to armor rolls they make until the end of the round. -Remember, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
