New Gloomspite Gitz Rules Spotted in White Dwarf 455

gloomspite gitz age of sigmar how to playIn the newest White Dwarf, the Gloomspite Gitz are getting a helping hand with new Warscroll Battalions and updated rules for the faction.

We recently saw a small rules teaser of the Warscroll Battalions coming inside the latest White Dwarf that you may want to check out if you haven’t already. However, now, there are brand new pics of all the details showcasing just what the Gloomspite Gitz are getting. Let’s dive in.

New Gloomspite Gitz Rules Spotted in White Dwarf 455

Looks like meat's back on the menuOne of the big changes is that the Gloomspite Gitz are getting a subfaction called the Jaws of Mork. If you choose to run your Gitz as Jaws of Mork, it unlocks a whole new table of rules.

Being themed entirely around Squigs, they’ve got abilities like Running Riot that let you reroll the number of inches moved which is super powerful. Get Some Loonshine Down ’em is a new command ability (that’s also mandatory if you take Jaws of Mork) and lets your Mangler Squig perform at its top bracket.

This is a hard choice between the Mangler Squig’s +1 to wound ability (basically making all its weapons wound on 2’s). But in the right circumstances, this ability can be brutal. Especially if you’re playing against an opponent that’s careful about how much damage they do to your Squig and knows how they degrade.

The Gloomspite Gitz faction terrain piece also got a welcome rules update. As long as you make your General a Squig unit you can replace Squig Herd, Hoppers, or Bounderz each turn on a 4+… Just like you would normally do with Stabbas or Shootas. This is a fantastic buff for Squig army players.

Now let’s look at some Battalions.

Jaws of Mork Getting Two Warscroll Battalions

Wd-Jaws-Of-Mork-RulesThe Moon-Jumper Stampede is one that is pretty much mandatory for any list running Squigs, specifically Hoppers, Bounders, or Mangler Squigs. Adding +1 Damage to their mouth attacks is essentially doubling the damage on the smaller dudes. For example, this lets those Bounders one-shot basic Stormcast Eternal units after doing a boatload of mortal wounds on the charge! At 140 pts, it’s fairly priced as well.

The Moon-Biter Squigalanche is the mack-daddy Warscroll Battalion that has all sorts of requirements to field. However, all things considered, this is one of the easier mega Battalions to fill. At a minimum, you’d need a Loonboss/Squig unit, two Hoppers or Bounder units, and one regular Mangler Squig. That’s easily doable in a 2,000 pt game.

For 90 pts, this Battalion gives you the ability to pick D3 units and have them move 6″. Considering who takes the first turn and how far away your opponent is deployed from you, this can help you almost guarantee an early charge or keep your vulnerable units out of harm’s way.

Overall, Squigs got a nice heaping wave of love this go around. It’s also nice to see that GW mad the Loonshrine worth taking for Squig-themed armies.

What do you think about the Warscroll Battalions for Squigs? Is the Mangler Squig on of the army’s top units?
