Are you a 40k Chaos player that takes risks and doesn’t have time for the “playing it safe” strategy? Are you a wrecking ball on the table? Keep reading.

The Rhino wrecking ball strategy is only for the Chaos on your chest. It’s been scientifically proven to put horns on your head, or at the very least some sort of mutation when it’s pulled off correctly. So what is this Rhino wrecking ball? Buckle up, kids. This is going to be a wild ride.

A Plan so Crazy it Just Might Work

If you need to deliver close combat melee pain in the form of something like Berzerkers, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Chaos Rhino with Combi-Plasma
  • Angry People inside for melee combat
  • Bad-rolling dice (or a friend that can’t roll).

Are you smelling what we’re stepping in here?

Keep in mind, this only works with Chaos.

You throw some dudes inside of the Rhino and move it 12″ at the beginning of your turn. Then, you overcharge the Combi-Plasma and shoot both weapons at something (preferably -1 to hit like a flyer). The Plasma rule says “On a hit roll of a 1, the model is slain.” With the way negative modifiers work, you increase your chances of blowing up which is EXACTLY what you want. If for some reason you don’t blow yourself up by rolling a 1-3 on two dice, command point it. Hitting is not a part of the strategy here.

Once your Rhino blows up, you’ll need to get out within 3″ of the vehicle. (remember to roll your dice for the people inside). And finally, you’ll be able to charge whatever is close.

To do a recap, you move 12″ with the Rhino, blow up. Get out within 3″ and then charge. It’s a way of “gaining” 9″ turn one which may be all you need!

Who needs a drop pod when you have a Rhino full of Plasma? The benefit to this little rules exploit is that it can all be done turn one and you don’t have to worry about staying 9″ away from anyone.

Have you tried this strategy before? Obviously, its silly and just a neat little trick, but its fun to do every now and then Don’t be the hobbyists who ruins someone’s game cause of it
