Super big news for Armada fans everywhere! Wave III and IV haven’t even released yet and we already have a confirmed Wave V! These new ships and squadrons will add even more tactical coordination for your fleets.
Wave V has 2 new small ships and 2 new sets of squadron, each for the Rebel and Imperial factions. Let’s get a quick rundown of what each expansion is all about!
The Phoenix Home expansion is a small ship for the Rebel faction. It has a moderate front battery of 4 dice and 2 on the side hull sections. With 5 hull and 8 shield, this ship is best hanging back as a support ship. This ship’s true strength lies in its Fleet Command upgrades, a new set of upgrades for Armada. This new ability allows you to spend command tokens in exchange for boosts to your other friendly ships and squadrons! This ship will serve as a small command ship for your Rebels fleets.
The Imperial Light Cruiser expansion is also a small ship, but for the Imperial faction. It has 2 attack dice in its forward hull, but has 3 in the side hull zones, making it an ideal long range broadside ship. With its narrow firing arcs, this ship can easily set up a double arc shot, the best part of outmaneuvering your opponent.
Wave V introduces a whole hangars worth of new squadrons to add to the fight. All of your favorites, from Z-95s to E-Wings, are included in the new Rebel squadrons. Even Hera Syndulla in the Ghost will be in this expansion, allowing for a whole new type of squadron support ship.
This beefy new squadron is able to choose 2 friendly squadrons at range 1=2. Those squadrons gain Rogue until the end of the round. This is amazing! This would be a great ability to boost some slow moving B-Wing to set up the perfect bombing run on a capital ship!
The Imperials also get a whole bunch of new squadrons. The Lambda Shuttle, Decimator, and even the TIE Defender make an appearance in this expansion. The TIE Phantom even makes an appearance. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the Armada game.
